With a bagpiper in their line-up, Skyforger is an example of a folk metal band that performs with traditional folk instruments.[1]

This is a list of folk metal bands with articles on Wikipedia. As the name suggests, the genre of folk metal is a fusion of heavy metal music with folk music. This includes the widespread use of folk instruments and to a lesser extent traditional singing styles.

While numerous bands like Skyclad have been performing folk metal from their debut album to this very day,[2] other groups have only performed folk metal at some points in their career. Some like Silent Stream of Godless Elegy only began adopting folk elements on subsequent releases[3] while others like Angizia have since discarded the traditional folk or metal elements from their music in favor of some other style.[4]
