On 24 March 2024, Russia launched a major airstrike attack against Ukraine, involving at least 20 missiles. At 4:23 a.m., one missile launched against Ukraine crossed the Poland–Ukraine border near Oserdów, Lublin Voivodeship and remained in Polish airspace for 39 seconds, crossing 1–2 kilometres (0.62–1.24 mi) before crossing back into Ukraine.[1][2][3] As a result of the airspace violation, the Polish Air Force and NATO air forces scrambled several F-16 Fighting Falcons.[1][4]

Reactions

Following the airspace violation the Polish government “demanded” an explanation from the Russian government over the incident.[1][5]
