Reg Khatushyamji[edit]

Removed "Khatushyamji" related info

  • 1 - Mahabharata has no mention of any "Khatushyamji" figure.
  • 2 - Seems like user's personal POV.

User needs to corroborate facts from Hindu literature viz Vedas/Sutras/Puranas etc.

Info about Khatushyamji[edit]

It has been mentioned in Mahabharat about "Khatushyamji". In TV Serial "Mahabharat Katha" which is the modification of "Mahabharat" it has been mentioned. He had very important role in Mahabharat. Whoever has removed information about Khatushyamji, i think he does not have more knowledge about Mahabharat. Refer link: http://www.khatushyamji.com/legend.htm or Khatushyamji.

river bhima[edit]

Soon we need to create a disambiguation page for river bhima which flows in maharashtra.

Bhima's parents[edit]

Perhaps worth mentioning his parents as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.140.181.4 (talk) 02:06, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Issues[edit]

This article has many issues:

  • Short paras that can be merged: violation of Wikipedia:LAYOUT#Paragraphs
  • "addresses the main aspects of the topic":
    • Suddenly "Along with other Pandava brothers, ... " after birth. Pandu's death and return to Hastinapur is missing.
    • Another gap: After lac-palace incident, Pandavas were presumed death. Even winning Draupadi in disguise. then their return to Hastinapur
    • Slaying of Hidimba
  • Neutrality: facts included in the article only glorify him, but other facts missed:
    • Killing Duryodhana by hitting on thigh against rules of combat
    • defeated by Karna in the war, where Bhima was struck unconscious but Karna spared his life owing his promise to Kunti
  • Prose:
    • Lists in "During the Kurukshetra War" need to be converted to prose.
    • "Thanks to Vidura, the Pandavas ... " Informal. Incorrect tone

IMO, the GA nomination should be withdrawn. Redtigerxyz Talk 05:45, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Killing Kauravas[edit]

Bhima actually killed 99 Kauravas. Bhima didnt kill Yuyutsu. Yuyutsu fought on behalf of Pandavas. Karna DV (talk) 10:08, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There were 102 Kaurava, not 100. 100 sons of Gandhari + Gandhari's daughter Dushala and Dhritrashtra's illegitimate son Yuyutsu.💠245CMR💠.👥📜 07:17, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Citations for alternative names?[edit]

We need citations for the definitions of his alternate names. Jihnmayodhin is said here to mean "fighter against falsehoods," but most sources online say it actually means "unfair/unmoral fighter," (Jihnma = morally crooked; Yodhin = fighter, according to these sources), referring to when he broke the rules of combat. Sources[edit]

Much better sourcing is required for this article. As it is now, the article relies way too heavily on individual opinion and primary sourcing. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 01:49, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit on 9 June 2022[edit]

Can anyone please provide accurate sources than writing bogus on this page. Bhima never defeated karna other than the 14th day and even Then karna defeated bhima multiple times after that. This article is extremely biased and inconsistent. Shiraj chandra (talk) 18:37, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bhima and Rajasuya conquest[edit]

Hello @Lord kai07:

I have noticed your change on Bhima's rajasuya conquest. You have edited the text stating that Bhima was defeated by Karna. Even though the reference link of KMG is stating otherwise. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I wanted to undo your revision. But noticed that you yourself has made this edit by undoing someone else's. I don't want to start an unintended edit war. Hence I am abstaining from it for now.

On another note. You have started an edit war with my previous edit regarding Bhima's fourteenth day of the war without providing a proper citation or starting a talk page topic as per the Wikipedia community guidelines. LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 19:40, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is the KMG translation suffers from many issues. Most prominently, the translation isn't perfect and the source material (NC's compilation) is far from perfect, with many interpolations and additions from the author(s). For example, NC was a big fan of the Karna storyline, so he plays up a lot of those parts (for example, Karna doing a Rajasuya on Duryodhana's behalf is a complete interpolation).
But as a wikipedia editor, how do we solve this? The KMG version isn't any less worthy than the many other versions of the story. Take this specific issue of Bhima being defeated by Karna...regardless of where this "fact" originated from, it is definitely part of the Mahabhartha lore. It's there in the BORI edition, it's there in the ACK edition, it's there in the Rajagopalachari version, and it's there in BR Chopra's TV version. So personally, I'd have no problem just saying "Bhima was defeated by Karna on the 14th day". On the other hand, there's also a story of both Bhima and Satyaki independently defeating Karna but sparing him due to Arjuna's oath. This story, as far as I know, only exists in the KMG translation and the original NC source. So were I to include that in the article, I would say "per the Chathurduri compilation, Bhima defeated Karna". Pinkfloyd11 (talk) 20:56, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pinkfloyd11: your reasoning only covers 14th day. However for Yudhishthira's Rajasuya conquest it is quite clear that Bhima is the victor. I gave chance to original editor to revisit it in case of a mistake. But he seems only intrested in Vandalising the page.
Regarding 14th day the text in Wikipedia is not consistent with Karna winning. Hence the query. LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 14:24, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
14th day battle is somewhat complex. With both Bhima and Karna winning and losing several times. How can we say that Karna ultimately won? That calls for a conclusion, based on interpretation. It's not like Karna completely eliminated Bhima for the day.
Regarding Rajasuya conquest I think it's ok to revert please let me know.
LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 14:34, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The details of Yudhisthira's Rajasuya conquest are an interpolation as well; they're only included in the KMG/NC version. Pinkfloyd11 (talk) 07:45, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pinkfloyd11: this is the first time I am hearing about Yudhistira's Rajasuya conquest being an interpolation. Please share the source for my reference. Without it wouldn't entire story of Mahabharata be left with so many questions. The rest of the plot won't make sense. Bori too mentions Rajasuya yaga and Karma's defeat at the hands of Bhima (chapter 252(27))LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 18:28, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Rajasuya conquest is not an interpolation, but the exact details of it are. IIRC, BORI edition choose to include the details (from the NC version) for the Rajasuya because the event itself is clearly part of the lore. Pinkfloyd11 (talk) 21:56, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
May I know the source for this. LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 14:04, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pinkfloyd11:

The Karna s digvijay yatra isn't a complete interpolation. It's briefly mentioned in the BORI CE. Then bhima and satyaki beating karna isn't clear either. Multiple sources suggest that bhima had help from Arjuna and so did Karna.it wasn't an individual battle, rather a battle royale and Krishna helped satyaki by giving him his divine chariot. So these victories and defeats are uncertain with different outcomes across different versions. The 14th day edit clearly states "With the outcome changing every time". Meaning they both won and lost multiple times. Karna is given the victory, because he was the last man standing or the victor of the last battle, hence the winning conclusion. The rajasuya conquest is extremely unclear. Even the source says Bhima only subjugated Karna, but that doesn't mean it's a defeat. It could just have been a simple political discussion. Without any references,@Lakshmanreddy72:, personally attacks me for an unclear ,unsourced edit. Isn't that unprofessional? I don't want to start an edit war or any kind of discussion on that matter. If he has a verified source, which actually suggests bhima's Victory, then please be my guest and Change the edits , if not then end the discussion!Lord kai07 (talk) 06:57, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Concluding the discussion about Rajasuya since it is already discussed on my talk page here [1].
In case anybody is interested, here is the link to BORI CE English translation which clearly states that Bhima defeated Karna in a battle in Rajasuya [2].
I am working on 14th day battle. Meanwhile adding Vikarna's defeat. I am surprised no one has added it till now. LakshmanReddy72 (talk) 16:46, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
