I am diagnosed with "moderate autism". I am doing and will continue to do my best to be civil, especially when issues with me are raised, especially by newcomers. If any of my edits is uncivil, please address it, so I will stop whatever is considered uncivil. However, civility is subjective. Even so, I will resist doing something considered uncivil until an edit is decided as civil.

Further note, I relinquished my rights to edit "extended confirmed"-protected pages, so I cannot edit those pages at this time.

An arbitration case regarding The Rambling man has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. The Rambling Man (talk · contribs)'s resignation as an administrator is to be considered under controversial circumstances, and so his administrator status may only be regained via a successful request for adminship.
  2. The Rambling Man (talk · contribs) is prohibited from insulting and/or belittling other editors. If The Rambling Man finds himself tempted to engage in prohibited conduct, he is to disengage and either let the matter drop or refer it to another editor to resolve. If however, in the opinion of an uninvolved administrator, The Rambling Man does engage in prohibited conduct, he may be blocked for a duration consistent with the blocking policy. The first four blocks under this provision shall be arbitration enforcement actions and may only be reviewed or appealed at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. Should a fifth block prove necessary, the blocking administrator must notify the Arbitration Committee of the block via a Request for Clarification and Amendment so that the remedy may be reviewed. The enforcing administrator may also at their discretion fully protect The Rambling Man's talk page for the duration of the block.

    Nothing in this remedy prevents enforcement of policy by uninvolved administrators in the usual way.

  3. The Rambling Man (talk · contribs) and George Ho (talk · contribs) are indefinitely prohibited from interacting with, or commenting on, each other anywhere on Wikipedia (subject to the ordinary exceptions).
  4. George Ho (talk · contribs) is indefinitely restricted from participating in selecting main page content. For clarity, this means he may not participate in:
    1. Any process in which the content of the main page is selected, including Did you know?, In the news, On this day, Today's featured article, Today's featured list, and Today's featured picture.
    2. Any process in which possible problems with the content of the main page are reported, including WP:ERRORS and Talk:Main Page.
    3. Any discussion about the above processes, regardless of venue.
    He may edit articles linked from or eligible to be linked from the main page (e.g., the current featured article) and may participate in content review processes not directly connected to main page content selection (e.g., reviewing Featured article candidates). He may request reconsideration of this restriction twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every six months thereafter.
  5. The community is encouraged to review the selection process for the Did you know and In the news sections of the main page. The community is also reminded that they may issue topic bans without the involvement of the Arbitration Committee if consensus shows a user has repeatedly submitted poor content, performed poor reviews, or otherwise disrupted these processes.

I think I am safe to say that you are unfamiliar with the British legal system, especially when it comes to photographs, so changing the images to 'non-free' when they are out of copyright, would be inaccurate. JimmyJoe87 (talk) 12:54, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What made you say that above, JimmyJoe87? To prove that your argument unsound, I know that the Edge (magazine) logo (File:EDGE magazine (logo).svg) is unfree in the UK (but free in the US). It was formerly hosted at Commons, but then the UK court ruling found the logo original enough for copyright, leading to a Deletion Request discussion. c:Commons:Threshold of originality#United Kingdom also mentions the logo and considers most trademarks unsafe to use at Commons.

I wonder whether you read this website, which summarizes UK copyright law, which I gave out at FFD. Also, I wonder whether you fully read the full legislation of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Well... that page is too long to read, so here's the table of contents instead. UK copyright of photographs defined as "artistic works" taken by anonymous works can last longer if first availability is made very late but within 70 years after creation. Of course, that depends on authorship. (I'll explain further at FFD soon.)

Yes, the licence that I used for the images contradicts your argument on my images. Just because you have taken an interest in the Edge Logo, proves nothing as we all have our own interests. 'It depends on authorship' and we don't know who the author was for any of these portraits, so therefore the licence I used was accurate as they are out of copyright in the UK. I appreciate your efforts to provide free content. However, the "licence" you provided doesn't substantially refute my arguments. Anyone can change a licensing tag, depending on accuracy of copyright status. I tried my best to convince you, but I figure that you'll disagree with what I want to say about licensing. PD-URAA means it wasn't published within the US within 30 days actually, as this is what the licence says 'it was first published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days)', so what you just said was wrong. Furthermore the licence I used on the images clearly states: A photograph, which has never previously been made available to the public (e.g. by publication or display at an exhibition) and which was taken before 1st January 1948; or A photograph, which was made available to the public (e.g. by publication or display at an exhibition) before 1 January 1948. So either way the image is covered as we know it was taken before 1948, and if you wish to use the argument of 'How do you know it was released in 1947', then lets go off your theory that it wasn't however it is still covered by 'A photograph, which has never previously been made available to the public (e.g. by publication or display at an exhibition) and which was taken before 1st January 1948', as it is up to the discretion of the NPG on whether or not they release images to the public. There are thousands of images stored on the NPG database that have yet to be released, so because of that I would say that this is the first time the image has been released to the public. In the FFD you mention Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Now the wikipedia article about this Act clearly states "Essentially, the 1988 Act and amendment establishes that copyright in most works lasts until 70 years after the death of the creator if known, otherwise 70 years after the work was created or published (50 years for computer-generated works)". Well we don't know who the creator was for any of the images in the FFD as they worked as photographers for now defunct companies called Elliot & Fry and Bassano Ltd, both of which ceased to exist in 1962/1963. So according to the act we 'otherwise' have to go off when this photo was created or published and since all the images were taken before 1948, it means that those listed in the FFD are out of copyright since it is more than 70 years since those images were created.
