I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hello, Siddsg

Thank you for creating Om Prakash Sharma (Nagaland politician).

User:Joel B. Lewis, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thanks for creating this page! Right now, it has only one source, which has very little biographical information about the subject.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joel B. Lewis}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

JBL (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Joel B. Lewis: Hi Joel, I have added reference to the official website of the Governor's website of Nagaland. Do you think that is a good reference? Siddsg (talk) 14:21, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Siddsg,
That reference is the one source that I mentioned. There is nothing wrong with it, but it contains almost no biographical information about the subject. The article would be greatly improved if you could find additional sources that say something more about Sharma.
All the best, JBL (talk) 17:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to 2020 Delhi riots, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. The sources you cited don't mention the Delhi riots at all. Have reverted your edits. SerChevalerie (talk) 14:24, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Maha Vir Chakra recipients

Hi Siddsg, and thank you for all your contributions to date! I noticed that you have created a lot of articles on recipients of the Maha Vir Chakra. While the recipients were undoubtedly gallant and deserving of admiration, I have some concerns about the notability of individual recipients. Our notability guideline for soldiers advises that soldiers are only notable for awards if they have gained their nations highest award (in India this would be the Param Vir Chakra). For winners of the second-level award, they are only considered notable of an article if they have 1) gotten the award multiple times, or 2) achieved a rank of OF-6 (or higher), or 3) been the subject of sufficient coverage to meet our basic notability guideline. You have created several articles on people who don't clearly meet any of those criteria, and I don't personally think they meet our notability guidelines. I'd recommend focusing on writing articles about people who clearly meet our guidelines (like OF-6 officers) to avoid any risk of deletion.

I'd also like to caution you to be careful about the tone that your articles are written in. Beware of editorializing and letting puffery slip into your writing. It is of the utmost importance that Wikipedia articles are written from a neutral point of view, which means that they should be largely absent of qualifiers and written in as neutral a tone as possible. For example, Wikipedia shouldn't describe somebody as displaying exemplary courage or say For his gallantry actions and bravery unless quoting a source. For those specific examples (taken from Imliakum Ao), I'd suggest rephrasing the sentences with exemplary courage as He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second highest military decoration, for his service during the war and For his gallantry actions and bravery as For his actions. Do you see the difference? In one we are telling the reader what to think (that they were incredibly courageous) whereas in the other we just tell the reader what happened (they were given an award) and leave conclusions about bravery to the reader (which is what Wikipedia should strive for). Hopefully this was helpful, and I encourage you to reach out here, on my talk page or at the teahouse with any further questions or for clarification. I hope you continue contributing to the encyclopedia. Best wishes, Eddie891 Talk Work 13:10, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to reinforce what Eddie891 has said. In general, unless they have reached the rank of brigadier minimum, these soldiers will not meet the requirements of WP:SOLDIER, as the MVC is the second-tier gallantry award of India. Please stop creating these articles unless they have received the MVC twice or have reached the rank of brigadier. You will probably find many of the others will be deleted. Notice

The article Harbhajan Singh (military officer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't meet WP:SOLDIER, as the MVC is a second tier award and this is a single award, only the Indian government website is reliable and has little more information than his name and the citation. It therefore doesn't meet WP:GNG and should be deleted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:22, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chand Singh (soldier) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.honourpoint.in/profile/naik-chand-singh-mvc/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sockpuppet investigation

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Koushik Pain, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Please work to gain consensus on talk page rather than reverting

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ayurveda; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 15:35, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Creating Articles not meeting Wikipedia Guidelines

Hello Siddsg, Hope you are doing fine. I know that don't have a habit of replying messages on your talk page or following the constructive suggestions from your fellow editors. But I want you to please read, understand and implement User_talk:Siddsg#Maha_Vir_Chakra_recipients. If you keep creating articles violating Wikipedia guidelines, the deletions are inevitable. So I would recommend you to stick to Wikipedia guidelines. Happy editing ! Zoodino (talk) 16:07, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Zoodino: I have read it and don't recall creating article after that message. Siddsg (talk) 17:39, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Siddsg:, That's good that you have already read it and are following it. But I would recommend you two more things:
  1. Try to reply/acknowledge messages on your talk page (even in brief/one word), so the others know that you have understood their concerns.
  2. If you have read User_talk:Siddsg#Maha_Vir_Chakra_recipients and agree to this, I recommend that you start cleaning up your articles yourself according to this. Zoodino (talk) 05:39, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit to Talk:Ayurveda, you made two claims that were patently untrue. That is behaviour unfitting civilised debate, particularly on an article subject to discretionary sanctions. I would like you to re-examine your statement and the two links, and to strike the untruths (the third part is true - the third link is the same as the first). If you fail to do so, I will impose sanctions against you in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator. --RexxS (talk) 14:28, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@RexxS: As a clearly WP:INVOLVED admin who has edited both main article[1] and talk page like an involved editor[2][3] you are not allowed to do it. Siddsg (talk) 14:45, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I assure you I have taken part in no dispute regarding Ayurveda which is what is required to make an admin involved. Nevertheless, if you prefer, I'll take your behaviour to WP:AE, where I'm confident that the other uninvolved admins will form the same conclusion as I did. Your choice. --RexxS (talk) 15:49, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've filed a report at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement #Siddsg. --RexxS (talk) 21:10, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
