Your VandalProof Application

Dear Yamaka122,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

I noticed your comments concerning the above editor's "disputes" with me. Please be aware that Doktor Who has been stalking and attacking me using a handful of sockpuppet accounts for over 18 months, and has posted dozens of, incoherent, paranoid rants during that time in which he's accused me of creating "hoaxes", of not existing, of being a woman and a litany of other insanities. This behaviour has certainly not ended - if anything he's recently increased the tenor and frequency of his attacks. This is a typical example, where he created a single-purpose account specifically to attack me. Another slightly more lucid example is here. My comments here provide more background to these issues, and identify some of his known sock accounts. I am very happy to support any formal process which curtails this editor's abusive behaviour. --Gene_poole 07:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed an ongoing dispute between you and Doktor Who, and I am happy to help you settle it. If you are concerned about a possible sock puppet account please go to Suspected sock puppets. Please see Keeping cool when the editing gets hot and I hope you can settle this on your own, but if this is not so I hope I can help or you can start a case at the Mediation Cabal. Also see Resolving disputes. Happy editing :D Yamaka122 ...:) 19:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and thanks for your response. Unfortunately any attempt to engage in a civil manner with Doktor Who results in him exploding in a fit of insanity, name-calling and abuse, so I'd be very happy for the Mediation Cabal's assistance at this stage. He really needs to be told that his behaviour is totally unacceptable - by someone other than me. Let me know what I need to do to get the ball rolling. --Gene_poole 20:21, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thanks for supporting my recent successful RfA. I have been testing my new mop a bit and Wikipedia hasn't crashed yet! Let me know if I can help you out with anything. Cheers! -- Flyguy649 talk contribs 04:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalSniper Application

Good day, and thank you for applying to use the counter-vandalism tool VandalSniper. I am pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted, and you are now approved to use the tool. You are now welcome to download the program - and be sure to read the features guide, if you have not already done so.

WP:AFC Backlog Drive

WikiProject Articles for creation needs your help!
WikiProject Articles for creation has done a tremendous job in working at WP:AFC over the past 7½ months. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication! Together, we've made the submission process easier and more streamlined, developed tools to make the process go faster for reviewers, and cut the backlog down to a mere fraction of what it once was. Well done!

As you all are aware, however, our work is not quite yet done. The project still has 10 archive pages left to complete, which include over half a month's worth of submissions, many of which have not been completely reviewed. We need your help to finish looking over these neglected submissions so that we can finally remove the backlog notice from the page, and put an end to the more than two year old backlog that has been a thorn in our side for ages! Participants will receive an AFC Barnstar, so hurry up and help out while there's still work to be done! Make sure to sign in on the WikiProject's talk page so we know who is involved in what promises to be our final effort to complete this goal. Thank you for all your help!
- Happy editing as always, Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Judaism Newsletter

Worship of the Golden Calf
Worship of the Golden Calf

Now with 200% more Jewishness!
Yes, folks, we're moving on up. This newsletter is now the newsletter for both WikiProject Judaism, WikiProject Jewish History, and WikiProject Kabbalah. In the future, I may split them, but for now I think we'll be just fine with one. As always, any questions or comments should be directed to me, L'Aquatique.

A Special Dispatch
Just a note, not aimed at anyone in particular. By order of the administrative cabal, it is officially not cool (and possibly dickish) to call someone an anti-semite when they aren't being anti-semitic. Anti-semitic is a very charged word, and it's important only to use it when you're absolutely sure it applies, lest it become the subject of a Godwin-esque law. Remember Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
In the News

  • A new class on the importance scale has been added- C Class- which covers articles better than start but not quite to B Class yet. It is up to the WikiProjects to decide whether to adopt them or not. Currently, there has been little discussion within our Projects, so if you feel strongly either way be sure to note so at your Project[s].
  • There is a proposal to reword the section on NPOV regarding religious articles. Please see Wikipedia_talk:NPOV#Religion section - Disputes between historians or scientists and religious_views to weigh in.
  • Thanks largely to the efforts of Xyz7890, a new navbox has come into being featuring Halakha topics. See: Template talk:Halakha to join in the conversation about how it can best be improved.

To Do

  • The Simple English Wikipedia is beginning a project of creating and improving articles related to religion, including Judaism. At the present time, volunteers are needed to propose our most important subjects for articles to be created. The official working list is here and a more extended list is here. If you are unsure of proper topics, you might try checking our lists of top importance level articles: Judaism and Jewish History. (WikiProject Kabbalah currently doesn't have such a list)
  • [Simple English] WikiProject Christianity is considering running a monthly drive wherein two or three top importance articles from English Wikipedia are simplified and moved over to S.E. They have extended an offer to work with us in creating a similar project for Judaism related articles. For questions or volunteer opportunities, please contact User:John Carter.
  • WikiProject Kabbalah is in dire need of an article rating system for quality and importance. If you are familiar with that system and have some time on your hands, please create one. It could also use some infoboxes...

Someone, probably you, requested access to the account creation tool. For security purposes could you please confirm that it was you who made the request so we can approve you, thanks. FunPika 21:10, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on irc and the mailing list. Keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. FunPika 14:19, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. Unfortunately I was unable to process your request. The ACC tool is a powerful program, and at the present time your account is either too new for us to determine whether you would know how to properly use the tool or that you have not attained the necessary level of trust to be granted access. Please don't take this personally and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. FunPika 14:21, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfC news

Dear AfC participant,

  1. Msgj and Tnxman307 are organising the AfC challenge! It's a little competition to help improve some of the articles created through AfC and we are hoping that everyone will get involved. For level 1, you just need to bring a stub up to Start-class. Level 2 is improving a Start-class article to C-class. And so on. To get involved or for more information please see the competition page.
  2. Those of you who haven't reviewed an article recently might not have noticed the new process that was implemented this year. Reviewing articles is now more enjoyable than ever :) You might like to give it a try. All articles waiting for review are in Category:Pending Afc requests. (Please read the updated instructions.)
  3. Please consider adding {{AFC status}} to your userpage to keep track of the number of articles waiting for review. At the time of writing we are officially backlogged, so help is needed!
  4. There is currently a proposal to bring the Images for upload process under the umbrella of WikiProject Articles for creation. The rationale is that both processes are designed to allow unregistered users to take part more fully in Wikipedia, and partipants in each process can probably help each other.

If you no longer wish to receive messages from WikiProject Articles for creation, please remove your name from this list. Thank you.

Salem Witchcraft Task Force

Sir or Ma'm,

I tire of trying to defend our article all alone out here.

The Bishops have been under attack quite a bit lately and I don't have the wikiskills to fix the mess this time. I tried to put Bridget Bishop's article back together, and looked at her husband Edward Bishop's article and am not even able to try to fix that. There are also other troubles please help me to put our article under protection from vandalism. The most recent culprits seem to include the sock puppet Missnonnie and perhaps members of the task groups WikiProject Christianity and WikiProject Biography.

May 2010

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Battle_of_the_Bzura&action=historysubmit&diff=356632525&oldid=354787988. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Yamaka122 ...:) 02:33, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
