Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Medicine
Points of interest related to Medicine on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Stubs – Assessment – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Medicine. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Medicine|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Medicine.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This page does not meet the minimum quality and sourcing requirements for medical information. All 26 of the pages in this set should be treated the same way; presumably they will be tagged in a day or so if this isn't a SNOW keep. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 00:33, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

- Keep List of medical abbreviations and this article and all like it, all of them found in Category:Lists of medical abbreviations, should be kept. You can click on any link and find the information in the main article. Any medical textbook should contain all of this information as well. This is clearly valid encyclopedic information. - Keep It is a Wikipedia glossary that would benefit from wikignoming rather than deletion. Thincat (talk) 11:27, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Keep, not sure how deleting this would benefit anybody—seems like a way to make it harder to find information. P Aculeius (talk) 13:04, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Keep this is a glossary, not a dictionary, and AfD is WP:NOTCLEANUP Dronebogus (talk) 13:12, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Keep This serves much the same purpose as Glossary of medicine. Explaining what terms or abbreviations mean does not constitute WP:Biomedical information, so the stronger sourcing requirements for medical content outlined at WP:MEDRS do not apply. If there are quality issues, deletion is not the way to address them. TompaDompa (talk) 13:38, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Keep Saying that AXR can be short for "abdominal X-ray" is not the kind of information for which WP:MEDRS comes into play. If the page said that such-and-such a condition is typically diagnosed by taking an abdominal X-ray, sure; this, no. The Wikipedia:Biomedical information supplemental page excludes
Etymology and definitions
from the scope of WP:MEDRS. XOR'easter (talk) 17:07, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

Definitely a notable topic, but this article is one sentence with one reference that barely provides anything to the reader. Bsoyka (talk) 16:10, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

- Draftify as nominator: This certainly looks like a good topic to have an article on, but this article barely even counts as a stub if at all. The creator is still active on Wikipedia, even as an administrator, so I think some improvements are entirely possible in the draft space. Bsoyka (talk) 16:14, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect to Ectodermal dysplasia as this is simply one of many variants. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:36, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

- Redirect per above, or tag with Template:Stub or something similar. Afd is a bad choice for articles that are notable but need to be improved, and there is no need to clean up mainspace by draftifying something that could be fixed with a little effort. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:24, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect to Ectodermal dysplasia as per above. Abysmal article, indeed. --Whiteguru (talk) 07:19, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
