Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz[1] defeated Novak Djokovic in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–2, 6–2, 7–6(7–4) to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.[2][3] It was his second Wimbledon title and fourth major title overall, and he became the sixth (and youngest) man in the Open Era to complete the Channel Slam.[citation needed] Alcaraz became the second man in the Open Era, after Roger Federer, to win his first four major finals.[citation needed]

Djokovic, competing in his first tournament since having knee surgery a month earlier, was vying for a record-extending 25th major singles title.[4][5] The tournament featured 37 five-set matches, the most at any edition of a major in the Open Era, breaking the previous record of 35 jointly held by the 1983 US Open and 2024 Australian Open.[6][7] Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard became the first lucky loser to reach the fourth round since Dick Norman in 1995.[8]
