Jota Aviation is a British specialist charter airline based at London Southend Airport, United Kingdom, and with the related Jota Sport, Jota Design and Jota Historic divisions, forms the Jota Group. Jota is owned by entrepreneur Simon Dolan,[2] founder and leader of the far-right political group Keep Britain Free, which campaigns against vaccines and the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

Jota Aviation Limited holds a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence No. 2376;[3] it is permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats.[4]

History

Jota Aviation was founded in 2009,[5] to meet the travel and cargo demands of the motorsport industry. It was expanded into a specialist air charter and aircraft management company, offering 24-hour-a-day response from its London Southend Airport base. The airline once was the largest operator of King Air aircraft in Europe.[6]

The company offers ad hoc or ACMI Aircraft lease charter flights on its British Aerospace 146,[5] added to the AOC in 2014.

On 11 January 2016, JOTA announced the addition to their fleet of an Avro RJ85 aircraft.[7] It was delivered to Southend on 5 April 2016.

On 20 February 2017, JOTA received an Avro RJ100, registration G-JOTS, ex Brussels Airlines as OO-DWJ.

On 10 April 2018, JOTA announced an expansion of their cargo fleet with the addition of 4 BAe 146-300QTs, the first of which, registration G-JOTE was expected to enter service on 1 June 2018.[8]

Response to COVID-19

Jota Aviation has been delivering personal protective equipment (PPE) to the NHS.[9] It is a requirement for passengers to wear face masks on board Jota Aviation aircraft.[10]
