The final was held on 28 February 2004 at the Olympic Centre in Ventspils, hosted by Davids Ernstreits and Ija Circene. The winner was chosen in two rounds of televoting - the first to select the top 3 and the second to select the winner.[1][2]
For the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, a semi-final round was introduced in order to accommodate the influx of nations that wanted to compete in the contest. Because Latvia placed 24th at the 2003 contest, country was forced to compete in the first Eurovision semi-final, held on 12 May 2004. They performing 4th, following Switzerland and preceding the Israel Fomins and Kleins failed to qualify came 17th with 23 points. Therefore, country will have to compete in the semi-final again in ESC 2005.
