In Greek mythology, Epiales[pronunciation?] (also Epialos, Epioles, Epialtes or Ephialtes) (Greek: Ἠπιάλης, also Ἠπίαλος, Ἠπιόλης, Ἐπιάλτης, Ἐφιάλτης), also known as Melas Oneiros (Black Dream) was the spirit (daemon) and personification of nightmares.[1] He was one of the sons of the goddess Nyx.
