Lineas Aereas Canarias, also known by its acronym LAC, was an airline based in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain.

History

Lineas Aereas Canarias was a small airline founded in 1985 with headquarters in Las Palmas by the Armas and Martinón families. After acquiring the MD-83 aircraft it began operating charter flights between the Canary Islands and some central European and Scandinavian countries. The airline experienced a modest growth after Spantax wrapped up in 1988.[1]

At the time of the Gulf War the airline faced financial difficulties following which it was purchased by Meridiana Air in 1990. Its personnel and fleet were transferred to Meridiana before the end of 1991.[2]
