Anurag Kulkarni is an Indian playback singer from Hyderabad,[1] who recently[when?] made his debut in Telugu Film Industry. He hails from Basara of Nirmal district but settled in Hyderabad.His father is a Marathi community and mother is Telugu family from Kamareddy.He got into fame after winning first prize in Idea Super Singer Season 8 (2015) which is a popular show in MAA TV.
Personal life
He started learning Hindustani classical music with late Sri. Kakunoori jangaiah ji, a renowned Hindustani vocalist and guru in Hyderabad. He learnt for over 3 years where he was introduced to kirana gharana style of singing.
His Journey
On 24 January 2015, he won the biggest reality show in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states called Idea Super Singer Season 8. The chief judges for this show were shri M. M. Keeravani and Padma Shri K. S. Chitra.[2] The show also featured many telugu cinema musicians as guest judges.
After completing B.Tech in Computer Science from Vignan VITAE, Hyderabad, he worked for a software multinational company for six months. He left the job in October 2015 to pursue his interest in music.[citation needed]
Currently[when?] he is a playback singer in Telugu Film Industry.
Achievements
- Runner-up of Gemini TV’s singing reality show Bol Baby Bol Gurukul in 2014.[3]
- Won competition held at Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh and received scholarship from padma vibhushan shri Pandit Jasraj on 1 December 2013 at Chowmahalla Palace, Hyderabad and performed in the samaroh's evening concert.[citation needed]
- Performed at the great historic place, "Salar Jung Museum" in a concert named "Taskeen" and felicitated as outstanding emerging sufi singer by an N.G.O named "Young", a youth organization.[citation needed]
- Runner-up of the competition "Idea Rocks India" Held by Idea cellular and was a Part of the concert of "Shankar Ehsaan Loy", the Bollywood music trio.[citation needed]
- Won a competition Held at Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh on 1 December 2012 at Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Hyderabad and performed in the samaroh's evening concert.[citation needed]
- Took part in Telugu cinema vajrothsavalu (The 75th year/Diamond jubilee celebrations of telugu film industry) with the troupe of 'Little musicians academy’, Hyderabad.[citation needed]
- Participated and reached to top 9 in a reality show of ETV Telugu named 'Saptaswaralu ' in 2008.[citation needed]
- Won the SIIMA Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song "Pilla Raa" from RX 100
