Nagarkurnool is a census town in Nagarkurnool district of the Indian state of Telangana.[1]
Politics
Nagarkurnool is a new district created on 11 October 2016 in Telangana state, it was previously in Mahabubnagar. The new district has four revenue divisions: Nagarkurnool, Achampet, Kalwakurthy and Kollapur with twenty four mandals. The town has a great history and it was a district headquarter in Nizam’s rule. Unfortunately it is not developed much due to corrupt politicians especially former MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy. He neglected this historic and important parliament headquarter in his long political career as MLA. As a Minister of Roads he did not brought a double road atleast to the town which connects other major towns in the district. Where as the then neighbour MLAs like Ramulu and Jupally Krishna Rao were successfully brought infrastructure to their constituencies. The town has no stadium ground till date. All the sports and activities are conducting in a school ground. This is the biggest shame to the district headquarter. Neighbour towns like Achampet, Kalwakurty and Kollapur have indoor and outdoor stadium facilities since long back. The major draw back to the town is lack of infrastructure and minimum facilities. People of the town are not worrying about their healthcare. Most of the tiffin centers run on mobile rickshaws on dust roads. Many of meat shops are located in the drainages. Every street has dozens of pigs which is common observation in the town. The current MLA is doing somewhat better than previous. He brought underground drainage system to the town. The works are under progress. However the development done so far is not sufficient. Still lot of things to be improved and developed in Nagarkurnool town.
