Aichi at-large district
Appearance
The Aichi At-large district is a constituency of the House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan. It consists of Aichi Prefecture and since 1947 it has elected six Councillors, three every three years by single non-transferable vote (SNTV) for six-year terms. A 2015 revision of the Public Officers Election Law increased the district's representation to eight Councillors;[1] the change will begin to take effect at the 2016 election, at which four Councillors will be elected.
The Councillors currently representing Aichi are:
- Masahito Fujikawa (Liberal Democratic Party (LDP); term ends in 2016)
- Yoshitaka Saitō (Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ); term ends in 2016)
- Misako Yasui (DPJ; term ends in 2016)
- Kōhei Ōtsuka (DPJ; term ends in 2019)
- Yasuyuki Sakai (LDP; term ends in 2019)
- Michiyo Yakushiji (elected as a Your Party candidate, independent since the party's 2014 dissolution; term ends in 2019)
