Ammapettai is a panchayat town in Thanjavur district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Ammapettai had a population of 13,816. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Ammapettai has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This village has three public schools, Panchayat Union Middle School, Appavuthevar Higher Secondary School and Regina Celi Girls Higher Secondary School.There are two other private schools. in my village the are many glossary shops, textiles,and there is the famous glossary shope the name of the shop is baskaran maligai

The main job for people in this village is agriculture. Power loom sarees have tremendously hit the evonomies, as they are primarily hand loom weavers.
