Auburn Council is a Local Government Area in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, about 15 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. The LGA has a large Chinese Population, which made up 9.3% of the total population; The LGA also has a large Muslim population, most notably from Turkey, which make up about 4% of the population[citation needed]; the Gallipoli Mosque in the suburb of Auburn is modelled upon the great mosques of Istanbul.

Homebush Bay, within the LGA, was the location of the main venues of the 2000 Summer Olympics.
