Capital punishment is a legal form of punishment in American Samoa, an unincorporated territory of the United States. The only crime punishable to death is the first degree murder, but American Samoa last executed a prisoner in the 1930s (the method used was hanging).

Recently, Governor Togiola Tulafono proposed to abolish the death penalty and make life in prison without parole a sole punishment for murder.
