The Central American snapping turtle (Chelydra rossignonii )^[1] is a species of turtle in the family Chelydridae.^[1] This species was previously considered a subspecies of Chelydra serpentina.^[2]

Etymology

The specific name, rossignonii, is in honor of French-born coffee grower Jules Rossignon.^[4]

C. rossignonii is found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.^[1]

There are no recognized subspecies of C. rossignonii.^[1]^[2]
