The Toronto FC–Vancouver Whitecaps FC rivalry is an intra-Canadian soccer rivalry between Major League Soccer clubs Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. It is a competitive rivalry that was first contested in 2008 (as Toronto FC started playing in 2007), however supporters of both clubs recognize that it is fueled by rivalries between previous iterations of the Vancouver Whitecaps, and other former Toronto based teams throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Toronto and Vancouver have met in five Canadian Championship finals, making it the most common finals fixture in the history of the competition. They are also the only current Canadian clubs who have won a first division U.S. based league championship, with the Vancouver Whitecaps winning the 1979 North American Soccer League, and Toronto FC having won the 2017 MLS Cup.
