MacKillop is an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia. Named in 1991 after Mary MacKillop (later to become the first Australian to be canonised as a Roman Catholic saint), who served the local area, it is a 24,981 km² rural electorate in the south-east of the state, stretching from the mouth of the Murray River southwards, but excluding the far-southern point of the state, which includes Mount Gambier. It contains the Kingston District Council, Naracoorte Lucindale Council, District Council of Robe, Tatiara District Council, Wattle Range Council, as well as parts of The Coorong District Council. The main population centres are Bordertown, Keith, Kingston SE, Meningie, Millicent, Naracoorte, Penola and Robe.

MacKillop was first contested at the 1993 election, replacing the old seat of Victoria,[1] and was won easily for the Liberals by Dale Baker, who was a former parliamentary state leader of the Liberal Party and state minister. However, at the 1997 election, it was captured by an Independent Liberal, Mitch Williams, who returned to the Liberal Party before the 2002 election.
