The discography of Green Day, an American rock band formed in 1987 in Berkeley, California, consists of nine studio albums, five live albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays, three video albums, thirty-three singles, and twenty-nine music videos.

Green Day released their first two studio albums, 39/Smooth (1990) and Kerplunk (1992), through the independent Berkeley label Lookout! Records before signing to major label Reprise for 1994's Dookie. Dookie was a breakout success, selling over 10 million copies in the United States and 16 million copies worldwide,[citation needed] and placed Green Day at the forefront of the 1990s punk rock revival.[1][2]

Green Day's next three albums—Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), and Warning (2000)—were not as successful as Dookie, though Insomniac and Nimrod achieved double platinum sales certifications, while Warning achieved platinum status.[3] Green Day's 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling nearly 6 million copies in the United States and over 14 million copies worldwide.[4] 21st Century Breakdown followed in 2009 and went Platinum. The band began to release a trilogy of albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!, scheduled for September 25, 2012, November 13, 2012, and January 15, 2013 respectively. The power pop ¡Uno! saw a move away from Green Day's two previous rock operas and a return to the band's older sound.

Green Day has sold over 70 million albums worldwide, including more than 25 million in the United States alone. They have also sold over 15 million singles worldwide for a total of over 85 million records sold.[5][6]
