The contact between the two units is the K-0 unconformity and represents a missing interval of about 58 million years in earth history. This contact is easily discernible, even by non-geologists at the place where the lower smooth weathering Henrieville is capped by the rougher more colorful rocks of the Dakota that form the top of the arch <UGS Bull.124, 1989> undo
