In Rainbows – From the Basement is a 2008 live video album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It features ten live performances of songs from Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows, including songs from the In Rainbows "discbox" edition's second disc.[4] It is an exclusive iTunes Store digital release.

Production

In Rainbows – From the Basement was filmed in a day[5] with sound by Nigel Godrich and video direction by David Barnard at The Hospital Club's TV Studio in London's Covent Garden[6] for longtime Radiohead collaborator Godrich's podcast and television programme From the Basement.[7] The Radiohead performance was the beginning of the second series of this programme.[8][9]

Release

VH1 broadcast

In Rainbows - From the Basement premiered on Saturday, 3 May 2008 at 12am on VH1. Radiohead performed songs from their 2007 album In Rainbows and the older tracks "Optimistic" (from 2000's Kid A) and "Myxomatosis", "Where I End and You Begin" and "The Gloaming" (from 2003's Hail to the Thief).[6][10]

iTunes

The performance that had aired on VH1 was made available through iTunes on 25 June 2008, to coincide with the band's series of outdoor concerts in the United Kingdom.[8]

The iTunes version features live renditions of songs from In Rainbows and its bonus CD,[5] omitting tracks from the VH1 performance that weren't on In Rainbows.[9] It's available as 10 separate videos[11] ($0.99 or £ 0.89 per video) or in full for $7.99 or £ 6.99.[5]
