Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, MD (born June 29, 1962)[1] is a Filipino physician who is the current Secretary of the Philippine Department of Health. She was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to replace Janette Garin, the Health secretary of the preceding Benigno Aquino III administration. Ubial was an Assistant Secretary for Health Regulations from 2008 until 2016 during the Arroyo and Aquino administrations.[2] She was also appointed as the department's regional director for Davao Region from 2006 to 2008.[1]
She is also an anti-tobacco advocate.[1]
Born in Iloilo City and raised in M'lang, Cotabato,[3] Ubial started her public health career as an rural health worker in Kidapawan, North Cotabato in 1990.[1] She graduated from the UERMMMC College of Medicine in 1987.[4]
