- Nagrota army base attack

- Aleppo offensive (November 2016)
  - At least ten people are killed and others were injured during air strikes on Aleppo's Bab al-Nairab neighborhood. (Reuters)
  - Government forces and their allies announce plans to capture the remainder of Aleppo before American President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January. (Reuters)
- The U.S. releases a report on the coalition's September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid on the Syrian Army, blaming the Syrian troops for their misidentification as Islamic State troops due to them allegedly "not wearing recognizable military uniforms or carrying identifying flags." (The Guardian)

Arts and culture

The Israeli ultra-orthodox party Shas proposes a bill that would thwart the mixed prayer area at Western Wall by placing the site under the jurisdiction of the Chief Rabbinate; if approved, a NIS 10,000 fine would be given to those engaging in male-female prayer or women wrapping themselves in the traditional talit or laying tefillin. LaMia Airlines Flight 2933

Semnan–Damghan train collision:

Ohio State University attack
- Law enforcement officials believed Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the perpetrator of a car ramming and stabbing attack at Ohio State University (OSU)'s Watts Hall, was inspired by terrorist propaganda from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, and radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. (CNN)
Susan Kiefel is appointed by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as the next Chief Justice of Australia. She will be sworn in at the end of January next year, and will become Australia's first female Chief Justice. (ABC News)
Ex National Football League player Darren Sharper is sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging and raping two women in the American city of Los Angeles, California. Sharper has been accused of attacking a dozen women across the United States. (Los Angeles Times)
