Ragarra is a fictional goddess in the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. She is part of the Al-Qadim campaign setting that is set within the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.

Publication history

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition (1989-1999)

Ragarra was introduced in the Al-Qadim: Land of Fate set (1992).[1]

Description

The Zakharan goddess Ragarra represents the jungle and its violent nature. She wants to destroy any civilization that wants to tame the wilderness around it,[2]: Campaign Guide, p. 13-14  and is therefore considered a savage goddess, i. e. a deity opposed to the culture of Enlightenment predominant in the Land of Fate.[1]: Adventurer's Guide to Zakhara, 55

Ragarra's symbols include a cyclone, a green three-fingered claw and a baby crocodile biting its own tail.[2]
The deity, sometimes also called Raggara,[1]: Adventurer's Guide to Zakhara, 55 [2]: Campaign Guide, p. 13-14  is depicted as a crocodile-headed female with the wings of a bat.[2]: Campaign Guide, p. 13-14  She fills a similar role in the Land of Fate as the god Malar does in Faerûn.

Her cult was driven underground long ago because of its anarchical nature, but has become stronger in recent years, cowing parts of the local population with acts of violence. Most of her worshipers reside in or around the cities of Dihliz, Rog'osto and Kadarasto, where they have secret lairs.[2]: Campaign Guide, p. 13-14
