Snake Eyes is an upcoming action film directed by Robert Schwentke, and is slated to be the third installment of the G.I. Joe franchise, as well as the first installment since G.I. Joe: Retaliation in 2013. It is due for release on October 16, 2020.

Premise

Serves as an origin story of the character Snake Eyes.

Cast

Haruka Abe and Takehiro Hira have been cast in a undisclosed role.

Production

It was announced in May 2018 that the next instalment of the G.I. Joe franchise would be a prequel, chronicling the origins of the character Snake Eyes.[1] In December, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura stated that Ray Park, who had played the character in the previous films, would not reprise his role for this film.[2] Robert Schwentke was set as director that same month.[3]

In August 2019, Henry Golding was cast to star in the title role, with Andrew Koji cast as Storm Shadow.[4][5] In September, Iko Uwais entered negotiations to join the film as Hard Master, and Úrsula Corberó was cast as Baroness.[6][7] Uwais was confirmed in October, with Haruka Abe, Samara Weaving and Takehiro Hira added to the cast.[8][9]

Filming

Filming began on October 15, 2019 in Vancouver and is expected to continue until December 9.[10] Filming will also take place in Japan.[11]

Release

The film is due for release on October 16, 2020.[12] It was originally slated for release on March 27, 2020.[13]
