World Council of Arameans (Syriacs)

World Council of Arameans [Syriacs] ,[1] (Syriac: ܚܘܝܕܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ ܬܒܝܠܝܐḤuyādā Suryāyā Tbelāyā) earlier known as Syriac Universal Alliance, was founded in 1983 in New Jersey, United States. It is an ethnic Aramean (also known as "Syriac") umbrella organization for Arameans and Syriac-Arameans and for all Aramean organizations throughout the world.[1]

  • Chief Financial Officer: Daniel Aksan (Netherlands/United Kingdom)
  • Director of Culture: Sabo Hanna (Germany)
  • Public Relations, Communication and Media Director: Simon Marogi (Germany)
  • Public Relations, Communication and Media Deputy Director: Barum Mrad (Switzerland/United Kingdom)[2]


"The World Council of Arameans (Syriacs) is dedicated to answer the call to protect and secure the rights, liberty and equality of the Aramean people, safeguard and promote the cultural heritage of its ancestors, ensuring justice, and uniting all its people as a self‐determined and internationally recognized Aramean nation."[3]

  • Aramean Federation of Belgium
  • Syriac Association of Vienna, in Austria
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Holland
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Germany
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Switzerland
  • Aramean Association of the United Kingdom[4]

Countries from which new Member Organizations may join WCA in 2011-2012 are:

  • India
  • Israel
  • Turkey
  • Jordan
