[edit]"The Afro-Guyanese people's perception of themselves as the true Guyanese derived not only from their long history of residence, but also from a sense of superiority based on their literacy, Christianity, and British colonial values."
POV??? Indo-Guyanese propaganda, much?
Couldn't agree more. This article is extremely biased and should be brought to the attention of an administrator.
- I guess I am not the first one to notice, unless someone wishes to explain why these comments should remain. blakdogg (talk) 02:29, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Does anyone understand the point of the VS Naipaul quote and the accompanying statements? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blakdogg (talk • contribs) 15:48, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Requested move 8 October 2016

The result of the move request was: not moved. Still no evidence supporting the move proposal, I was going to relist and ask for it but I see that has already been done, so we move on. Andrewa (talk) 02:35, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
Afro-Guyanese → African-Guyanese – People of the Caribbean now say African Caribbean. Therefore Guyanese will say African-Guyanese. People of the Caribbean or African descent no longer want to be defined by their hair. This has been a practice for a long time. 212.74.5.219 (talk) 16:52, 8 October 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. - Comment. There needs to be some evidence introduced to support the claim that "African-Guyanese" is more common than "Afro-Guyanese". The fact that "Afro-American" isn't really used any more doesn't mean that it's the same for all ethnic groups with the prefix "Afro-". IgnorantArmies (talk) 10:51, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per User:IgnorantArmies. Evidence is needed for a move. BTW, the "Afro-" in Afro-Guyanese does not derive from the hairstyle. Both derive from Africa. — AjaxSmack 16:12, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
