For future reference, the origin of this article was a copyright violation posted in the Alan Hart (different person) article here. Source. It appears to be, as the original editor claimed, his book publisher's biographical sketch, but makes some extraordinary claims, so proceed with caution. --Dhartung | Talk 19:42, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say we should probably look for a better source before allowing that stuff back in. Statements like "Zionist lobby's awesome influence" indicate a need for NPOV precautions. — ceejayoz talk 20:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What a nonsense. I advice you deal with the issue first and get the basic knowledge, before you want to interfere in it. His book title is "Zionism: the real Enemy of the Jews". If you had dealt with the issue, you'd know he blames Zionism, not the Jews. To the contrary: He says Jews are Victims - of Zionism.
The Jewish author Ilan Pappé is one of his best friends, and Pappé said: "Your book is the truth in 7 words". So how can be blame the Jews, when even Jewish scientists agree with him? Your posting is more than absurd, please deal with scientific facts, or leave the discussion. Thank youPeterBln (talk) 13:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So you are saying that becaue he has some Jewish friends who share his consuming hatred of Israel, he cannot possibly be considered anti-semtic? That's a pretty stupid argument. Just because a person is (or claims to be) a member of a certain ethnicity or religious group, it doesn't mean that this person cannot hold views which are (or can be intepreted to be) prejudiced or hostile towards that group. A large number of Jews believe calling for the end of Zionism (i.e the destruction of the state of Israel through political, military or demographic means) is anti-semitic, regardless of the person's ethnicity or religious views.(Hyperionsteel (talk) 23:10, 6 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
I've removed Category:Antisemitic publications from this article. I'm not saying he isn't antisemitic - he may or may not be - but we shouldn't imply that he is without clear references showing that that allegation has been made or reported by reliable sources. The links above aren't good enough for that purpose. Robofish (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of information available

[edit]

There's no need for caution where statements are made by people (or in this case, their agents/publishers) about their opinion. If the source speaks of "Zionist lobby's awesome influence" then something along these lines needs mentioning.

Meanwhile, there is no obvious link to Christian Zionism that I know of or can find - and the link to an article by Alan Hart "offering his prescription for resolution of the perennial problem of anti-semitism" is dead and I can find nothing on the web that it might be. These inclusions could have been carried over from the earlier confusion between this Alan Hart and other famous people of the same name. Both should almost certainly come out.

Interestingly, the guy was reporting for ITN (British news, independent but government regulated and then on a par with the BBC) at the time of the Six-Day war and describes as fact Moshe Dayan threatening to sink the USS Liberty some 16 hours before the attempt was made. He went on to work for the BBC and claims to have been an unofficial envoy between President Carter and Yassir Arafat. PRtalk 13:04, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
