[edit]

I'm having a hard time deciphering the points in this section. Can someone help me out?

Supporting details

[edit]
  • Macroscopic reasons:
    • with the rapid development of scientific technology
    • advancement of productive forces  Done, if this relates to factory workers
    • economy is increasing more and more vigorously.  Done, if this relates to the significant increases in housing since 2003
    • Attracted by the rich material life and proud identity living in the city, most graduates from the countryside are inclined to stay in the city. (I think I'm good here)  Done
    • The increase of the needs of graduates from society doesn’t coordinate with the speed of the incremental number of graduates. Done (more college graduates in the workforce, but not enough jobs to support the influx)
    • Requirements of graduates are less than the number of graduates.  Done, if this relates to there being more graduates than there are professional positions
    • The number of technicians fails to meet the demand of society instead.
  • Microscopic reasons:
    • low rent and convenient transportation are the objective of the formation of ant tribe.
    • Squeezing daily expense and going to work conveniently push graduates to choose a proper place to live, which leads to form a habitation in the suburban district.
    • Graduates just enter the society.
    • In psychology, graduates chase after the feeling of community and identity to keep them feel same. Most graduates show they would to live with acquaintances.
    • As time goes by, it contribute to shape a habitation, which known as ant tribe.
    • At the same time, the changes of China’s employment situation, high housing price and the lag concept of employment of university students account for the appearance of ant tribe.  Done

It could be that this will sort itself out as I reach English sources, but I'm mostly lost on what the points are -- really good example: advancement of productive forces. What does that mean?--CaroleHenson (talk) 13:04, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've added  Done where I think I've covered the point, but if someone could double-check me, that would be good!--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:22, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

World view

[edit]

Thank you for helping me advance <ant tribe>! About the worldwide view, do I need to refer to some comments on Chinese ant tribe or the similar phenomenon in foreign countries? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nnu-12-22100539 (talkcontribs) 06:54, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good question. I'm a little stuck on that because there are political and economic factors that make the situation in China unique. I thinking I'll post a note on the talk page of whoever added that template and see what is needed.--CaroleHenson (talk) 13:40, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Down Youth citation

[edit]

Thanks so much for finding a citation for the Down Youth. Since this is an article in English, we need a source in English. Are you able to find one in English?--CaroleHenson (talk) 13:44, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for advancing Ant Tribe.
I feel sorry for no finding of an English source of The Down Youth. Because China Newsweek is a publication in Chinese. There are some related reports of the phenomenon. Besides, I want to add some information about ant tribe's attitudes to life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nnu-12-22100539 (talkcontribs) 02:07, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I couldn't find a WP:Reliable source in English either.
Can I help out somehow on the attitude to life piece so that we can use English references? Otherwise it's impossible to edit. For instance, if you give me some key words, I can try to find some sources to use to support your points. There's so much information out there, that I don't think that would be hard to do and it might give you some additional points to add.--CaroleHenson (talk) 02:36, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. Although some ant tribe feel depressed about the situations, the majority of them are very optimistic to their future. Government have taken some actions to solve thier poor living conditions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nnu-12-22100539 (talkcontribs) 04:31, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, there's several that are already used in the article that I think will be helpful for you:
1. "China's 'ant tribe' still struggling." China Daily. December 14, 2010.
7. Jacobs, Andrew. (December 11, 2010). "China's Army of Graduates Struggle for Jobs." New York Times. Retrieved December 27, 2011.
8. Wei, Wang. (August 8, 2010). Ant tribe swams to new villages. China Daily. Retrieved August 27, 2011.
Let me know if you need more.--CaroleHenson (talk) 04:46, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou for helping me a lot with Ant Tribe. I have just added some information according to the sources of English and Chinese websites. Because I can find some information in Chinese only. Happy New Year in advance!--Nnu-12-22100539 (talk) 04:00, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing up the article, it's very interesting! It's been my pleasure.

I hope you don't mind, I went ahead and consolidated your additions in sections where the topic was already started - and removed the bit that came from a blogger (not a reliable source). But I think your points are well captured.

Is it possible for you to format the citations (include a title, source, date, etc.) for

11.^ http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/02/18/us-china-middleclass-idUSTRE61H01220100218
12.^ http://news.qq.com/a/20100222/000420.htm

15.^ http://www.wix.com/785408910/gongweimo#!solutions/vstc1=advertising

For example for #11: <author (if there is one noted)> [http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/02/18/us-china-middleclass-idUSTRE61H01220100218 <title>] <publisher / news source> <date published>

That would be a big help! Thanks again and Happy New Year to you, including the Chinese New Year to come shortly!--CaroleHenson (talk) 19:29, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With respect to "who settle for a poverty-level existence" - this implies volition. Chenge to a more neutral phrase such as "who live a poverty-level existence". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.36.164.228 (talk) 08:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
