Contributors to the field of Art Education

[edit]

I was happy to find information on art education that is specific to the United States, as it has its own unique history of developing the arts in schools. In the references section, it might be beneficial to include articles and/or books from educators Elliot Eisner, Enid Zimmerman and Gilbert Clark. Individually and collaboratively, they have written a host of information related to the ways in which students learn about art and provide sound research and advice related to advocating for art education in America. --Emilyjanowiak (talk) 00:15, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arts Integration

[edit]

I added arts integration because it is definitely a way that the arts are taught in many schools today. I know it is listed as a separate page in Wikipedia, however, it is an integral part of arts education within the United States. Kwhite584 (talk) 04:38, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Art Education in the United States

[edit]

This article seems to have good information, but some things could use improvement. Such as the information should be given chronologically. I also believe that the article was not only trapped within the 1900's range, but instead went by centuries. A good website with art history information is The History of Art Education in America which is a timeline posted onto timetoast.com. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.0.180.250 (talk) 07:38, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Additions

[edit]

This article could do with an additional section on policy/regulation/public funding for the arts through the last few decades (i.e., NCLB, budget cuts, the NEA, STEAM), how it has evolved and where it stands today. It seems the article follows various schools of art and the movements and methods related to art education, but is a bit lacking in the political universe. (In fact, under its Obstacles section, the Arts integration article touches on policy more so than this article does, but that information more appropriately belongs in this article.)

Adding citations and more information.

[edit]

This page could be improved by the addition of some information about art education before the 1900's, as well as more elaboration on what art education was like between WWII and the 80's. A more in depth look into current art education would be beneficial. Here are some sources I plan on using to improve the article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lorainethompson/Art_education_in_the_United_States/Bibliography?veaction=edit&preload=Template%3ADashboard.wikiedu.org_bibliography lorainethompsonLorainethompson (talk) 00:57, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions to Article

[edit]

I have revised the lead to better fit the Wikipedia guidelines, and have created a section titled "Art education since the 2000s", so as to include information about modern art education. Most of the information in that section came from the original lead, but deserved its own section. Lorainethompson (talk) 15:14, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Added another section

[edit]

Added another section about art education before the 1900s. Lorainethompson (talk) 16:23, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions

[edit]

I revised the Picture movement section, as well as the World War II section, as there were some run on sentences and grammatical errors. Also reworded some things to make the information understandable for all users. Lorainethompson (talk) 20:30, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
