See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies). Ethnicity doesn't go in header, only nationality. In Soomekh's case, she's obviously an American citizen who has been in the US since she was 3. Do you have a source that she is of Iranian nationality/citizenship? She may well not be, and if she isn't, then her only nationality is "American" and that's the only thing that can go into the header. She should be referred to more than just an American. Ethnicity[edit]

Ip user: 104.35.218.238, nobody cares who you are or who do you think you are, only thing that matters is what RS say, Jewish people are one single ethnicity. Visit the article Jews and review the large number of sources that undermine your assertion. You are so uneducated on this topic that you don't even understand the meaning of the so called "Ashkenazi" "sephardic" or "mizrahi" groups. FYI, these are not divisions of Judaism (you can be an atheist Mizrahi or Ashkenazi Jew) in contract to orthodox, reform or Karaites Jews, but a collective names of Jewish communities based, mainly, on geographic location. So Persian Jews, in general, indeed share same ethnicity as Hungarian Jews. See Jewish ethnic divisions, by reading the first sentence you would understand your ignorance and falsification as even if we use your inaccurate definition of ethnicity, 'Persian' shouldn't be mentioned but the so called 'Mizrahi' trem. I never said that Ashkenazi/Mizrahi are religious separations within Judaism. Same beliefs, same religion, but different ways of observing. As Persian Jews, we have different CULTURAL traditions from our fellow Jews in Hungary, Poland, etc from our language, food, the way we celebrate our holidays, our Persian heritage, viewpoints, etc. I'm actually married to an Ashkenazi Jew and there are several cultural differences between our families. You need to educate yourself on this topic. Feel free to leave her ethnicity as Jewish, it really doesn't make a difference even though it's completely inaccurate. It's just amazing, even after directing you to the relevant information you can't even comprehend your mistakes. If you had actually bothered to read and learn rather than thinking you know better you wouldn't have written this; You still have no clue who mizrahi or ashkenzi Jews are and it seems you aren't even interested to know. Different community traditions do not indicate different ethnicity as much as Arabs from Yemen and Arabs from Syria are both ethnic Arabs although their "different cultural traditions". Same thing for Jews from Iran and Jews from Poland, who are different subgroup but of the same Jewish ethnicity. I could have educated you myself and demonstrate you how your arguments don't hold water, but why bother? I guess me, social scientists, cultural anthropologists, historians, geneticists or any relevant academic researcher who has published a study on Jews and their identity need to educate themselves and have no clue about the Jewish people. Citizenship[edit]

It is of 96.232.248.11's belief utilizing this source to concur that Soomekh is an American citizen. She states in the source interview that, "I’m an American, I consider myself an American. I came here when I was three, and I’ve lived in the U.S. the majority of my life." However per Nationality, it's defined as a legal relationship between a person and a state. Cognizant of WP:BLP, we must get the information correct.

Per WP:PSTS, I believe the user above is adding commentary in which they believe she's an American citizen whereas there's no evidence to support this fact, just the statement of a feeling in an interview. Because this article is a BLP, I would argue we must default to having no information given, hence my revert of the edit. GauchoDude (talk) 13:36, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do you need a copy of her US passport? Seems very ridiculous considering you don't need that for any other American on Wikipedia. She clearly stated she was an American. Per WP:RELY, which is a Wikipedia guideline, "...articles should be based on reliable, published sources ..." Because this is a living person's biography, we err on the side of caution. Ultimately, per WP:BLP, a Wikipedia policy, "The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores material."

I doubt doubt that Soomekh probably is an American citizen, however based on one source in which she herself states that she "... consider[s] [herself] an American," I don't feel that level of accuracy and sourcing is up to par with what should be required to define citizenship as it's a legal relationship. That said, as the information is presented, I could certainly see in the Personal Life section, some line being added with that sourcing to the effect of "Soomekh considers herself an American and has lived there since she moved there a child." as that's the information directly presented. With all due respect, both of you are giving me information that is not helpful for editors for Wikipedia. What proof do you need? Her passport? She doesn't just say that she considers herself an American. She clearly states that she IS an American.
