Notable alumni section!
[edit]The Notable alumni section of this article is full of spam and advertising. A Wikipedia school article is not a directory of (all) students of the school. I suggest to delete all the redlinks and plain text names and let's keep only those names for which we have Wikipedia articles. I could do this without myself asking, but, I think this may be little bit controversial later (already a small edit warring going here), so I wish to get some opinion and specially reach some consensus before doing anything here! Since there is any active editors here, I am requesting for comments. --Tito Dutta ✉ 20:05, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Concur This is a totally reasonable position per WP:Notability. MichaelProcton (talk) 06:26, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Remove red links - Alumni of a school is best handled by Categories: create a new category "Alumni of Ballgunge" and put the persons' articles into that category. --Noleander (talk) 16:17, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- Remove any name that is not sourced to a reliable third party Wikipedia:BIO#Lists_of_people. WP:SELFPUB. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:32, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- (from RFC) I would expect the list to only include notable people and that is normally those with a wikipedia article or those that would otherwise be considered notable enough for stand-alone article but hasnt been created yet. MilborneOne (talk) 19:21, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, what MilborneOne said. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 11:36, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- (from RFC) MilborneOne has said, A red link for a subject can remain in the article provided the subject is notable enough to deserve an article per WP:BIO--DBigXray 20:35, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, red link can remain, but there is no way to verify that the person really was an alumni of that school/college unless you manually search in world wide web.
- Also see– Patha_Bhavan,_Kolkata#Notable_alumni, I feel some of these entries should be removed. --Tito Dutta ✉ 13:14, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
