Stumbled upon this because of todays announcement of 2024 wimbledon winners. Regardless of photographers making these - should the wikipedia still use them while abundance of "normal ones" are available? As there is already one from 2018 I would just like to take it out of the article. (and the front page "medley"). 2A02:2455:18DC:FA00:A58D:261F:5738:5061 (talk) 16:57, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For some reason, need to add manually the Win-Loss percentages in the Infobox, is there a reason it is not working automatically in all profiles? Sashona (talk) 19:05, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The template is being updated to have more flexibility. That space in the infobox was never authorized by tennis project to have a trivial percentage to one decimal point added. It's for a win loss record with an ndash. And that other writing about what the win/loss encompasses (like Davis Cup, etc) is atrocious. Most of our player bios do not use that template, but 2500 do. That template is also used for things other than infoboxes. That said, the template works well for new users because it automatically adds an ndash instead of a hyphen. That's a pretty big deal. A newly created template will be flexible enough to allow the percentage when really needed, yet also not force the addition of the fluff percentage. It will be added as soon as the template folks unscramble the coding. But it's one thing to add a percentage to a player who is at some record and quite another to show 11-10 (52.4%). I'm not sure I've seen any other of our articles with one decimal point. It's usually none or sometimes two. However, it will be an option in a new template.
