Where would I add criticism for Bell throttling?

[edit]

Where would I add criticism for Bell throttling internet? Would it belong on this page?

Known periods: 2000-2008 (different class action lawsuit) 2009-2012 (different class action lawsuit)

2013-present (work in progress, they've become sneaky about it better than Rodgers who got caught throttling WoW)

I write a clean article when I know for sure where to put it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.188.28 (talk) 22:40, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please Don't Merge Pages

[edit]

Fibe (Bell Aliant) is different from Bell Fibe TV and Bell Internet. The pages should not be merged because they both offer different services in their own respects to different parts of the country. What’s offered in Ontario and Quebec isn’t always what’s offered in Atlantic Canada for Fibe and the The types of services it provides ie: Bell Aliant has all unlimited internet plans, Bell charges for unlimited internet plans. Also Bell Aliant Fibe TV and Bell Fibe TV both have different channel numbers for every channel in their networks. Bell Aliant used to be just Aliant as well a separate company. Bell and Bell Aliant are two different divisions of BCE

Division

[edit]

I've changed the term "subsidiary" to "division", because Sympatico is merely a brand name; it's not a seperate entity. - quanta July 5/2004

Sympatico is refered to as a "Line of Business", if there are no objections Matthew 21:53, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speed

[edit]

Bell Sympatico is currently offering speeds of up to 6Mbps on it's Ultra plan for member's close enough to their various Central Offices. - Xakor August 21/2005 - Actually 6Mbps is only for business customers (for now). Sympatico is their residential service. - quanta 02:23, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"These modems are backwards compatible with ADSL, and as such Sympatico caps them at 3 or 4 Mbit/s like any other modem." This sentence is a bit inaccurate since the modems aren't capped at all, only the profile set at the other end on the DSLAM card determines which speeds the modem will try to synchronize at. I did not dare modify the entry myself though.

Advert?

[edit]

How is this page an advert..? I really don't think it is; I think it is reporting the what Bell Sympatico is and what services they offer. --Royalflight 01:56, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although Sympatico undoubtedly merits an article. This article is unacceptable, it from the very start to finish goes about outlining every single services they provide. while they is nothing inherently wrong with that the article tends give perhaps more weight than to necessary to insignificant things, thus creating the advert like quality of article. I would suggesting comparing other ISPs for perspective. --sSb talk 02:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As it stands, this page is not an encyclopedia entry, more like the front page to the company's website. Wikipedia is not a product catalogue for listing every single service the company offers. If people wish to know this (and be far more assured of accuracy and currency) they will look at the company's website. Listing prices, terms and product names, even as objectively as possible, makes the article look like it's little more than an advert. --Escape Orbit 23:02, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm minded to do a re-write on this page. As outlined above, it's looking more and more like a portal into Bell Sympatico's website, complete with carefully crafted tracking links. This page is an encyclopaedia entry for the company, not a product catalogue, or a branch of its customer services. A suitable link or two to their website is all it requires. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 18:10, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this article looks like an ad. Why does it have that huge list of services(add-on packages) and most links are external links to bell's site? Instead of concentrating how bell lies about the speed, how bad the customer support is and how it throttle's shamelessly every isp in canada it just talks about their services. It seems to me like this article was created by bell employees. Mile92 (talk) 06:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikispam on this page

[edit]

As discussed above, I have edited this page to remove the bulk of the product catalogue and marketing. Please, if you are the Bell Sympatico employee editing this page then refer to the article on Wikispam. Notably what it says there; "Wikispam articles are usually noted for sales-oriented language and external links to a commercial website." Your detailed listing of services within this article, concentrating on availability and price, along with multiple deep-links into the sales and customer support sections of your website, clearly constitutes Wikispam. If you can add further cited information about your company, then do so. But please stop adding detailed product information that is obviously only concerned with promoting your services. Also note that, due to Wikipedia's search engine policies, adding links here will not increase your site's ranking in search engines like google (for the very reason that it would otherwise encourage link spamming in Wikipedia). If you wish to discuss this further then please contribute to this page. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:26, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo - Bell Sympatico.gif

[edit]

Image:Logo - Bell Sympatico.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Not a Forum

[edit]

This talk page is not a forum for discussing the merits of the company's products. It's for discussion on improving the article. Unless you can contributed notable and cited criticism of Bell Sympatico advertising of products then you have come to the wrong place. This is not the place to "spark discussion" or "get the truth out". --Escape Orbit (Talk) 13:34, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality of the Article

[edit]

I see that there's a small war going on, those external links to every single product Bell offers keeps getting added(wp is no a link farm). I removed those, added that neutrality check template and hope it's all ok. Besides that i added more info on net neutrality. Beware, i watch this now! - Mile92 (talk) 06:14, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fibe 25 comment

[edit]

A user wrote the following comment on the Bell Internet article: "The most recent criticism from a new fibe25 user (soon to be an ex user) is that the service is "ONE WAY". From home it works great, but you cannot access your home computer from your office, or anywhere else, because Bell does NOT route the incoming traffic from their concentrator to your home. Effectively they are selling a ONE WAY street instead of a TWO WAY (the old DSL was a 2 way)." If there isn't enough people with this complaint, then it can't be included on the Article page. --True Tech Talk Time (talk) 14:31, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Throttling

[edit]

I spoke with a Teksavvy (a bell's third party ISP) tech guy and he told me Bell throttled P2P form 4pm to 1:30AM.

—— Acce (talk) 22:43, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bell recently stopped throttling third parties. --True Tech Talk Time (talk) 14:30, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
