It is rather pointless to list all the clubs, and even the departments of the university. I will remove the clubs if no objections are made. -- umutisik

i agreed and moved on to remove clubs. -- Kemken (talk) 01:51, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance for Notable Faculty and Alumni

[edit]

I did try to list some of the most prominent but I am sure that there are missing people. Especially regarding the professors in engineering and science. I myself am a Phil major so I only know about my people. And as you can see the only professor of science in the list Shumovsky who is like a legend in Bilkent. Impossible to forget.

i've reviewed the 'notable faculty members' section. added a few, and removed a dozen. the whole members of faculty of law was in this list, so i corrected it. added A.Atalar, Metin Gurses, Sinan Sertoz, Haldun Ozaktas from science and engineering. removed Hilmi Volkan Demir. any objections? -- Kemken (talk) 01:51, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am a freshman so I don't know about all the famous alumni, too. Again there has to be people in the science field who have done something more important than Şahan did. So help is appreciated.

Fair use rationale for Image:Bilkentlog.jpg

[edit]

Image:Bilkentlog.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

eminent university worldwide?

[edit]

With all due respect, based on what does the article base the claim that Bilkent in an "eminent university worldwide" and that it "ranks high internationally". Let's review the usual international university rankings. Each year, the Times Higher Education ranks the 200 best universities in the world, and Bilkent doesn't make it into these top-200; Newsweek rank the Top 100 Global Universities and Bilkent is not among these either; the most common university ranking, Academic Ranking of World Universities ranks the top 500 universities in the world and Bilkent is not among those 500; it also ranks the 100 best universites in each continent and Bilkent is missing from the Asian top 100 as well. Taking all of this together, the evidence for Bilkent not being that highly ranked internationally is rather overwhelming while there are no sources to support that it would be. how about this: http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2009/subject-rankings/technology -- Kemken (talk) 01:55, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As of September 17, 2010; Bilkent is now #112 in The Times Higher Education's list of 200 best universities in the world (incidentally #1 in Turkey). I edited the page to reflect this fact and to remove an outdated ranking.

For 2011-2012 Times Higher Education ranks Bilkent between 201 and 225 (I think if logged in the exact number will be shown). I have changed the page to reflect this. Velle (talk) 07:41, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Faculty articles

[edit]

Separate articles have been created for this university's Faculties of Law, Business Administration and most recently Engineering, all with no references to demonstrate individual notability of these departments. Based on Wikipedia:College_and_university_article_guidelines#Faculties_and_academic_colleges, I have redirected the most recent to this article and flagged the other two for possible merger to here. Places doesn't belong to university.

[edit]

Bilkent subway station and Doğramacızade Ali Paşa mosque doesn't belong to university proper which also applies for Bilkent shopping malls and City Hospital. However, even if I removed related pictures of there from the article, an anonymous user persistently reverting those. He also contacted me personally on another website by ad-homineming my current relation about the university, which can be considered as harassment. OnurT 11:27, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
