New Edit
[edit]Just wanted you guys to know I'm editing the page but I'm not sourcing it (I don't know how to effectively source). I also put a notice of this at the top of the page. ILeftMyHeartInTokio (talk) 06:23, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- You were missing the {{reflist}} template that makes all the refs tag visible. I've added it. Amalthea 09:48, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay I wrote the entire article but when I tried to save it the edit was reported as unconstructive. This is likely due to the fact that I didn't cite any sources. I'm not sure how to properly cite sources and I need hekp with this. ILeftMyHeartInTokio (talk) 10:13, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I've restored the infobox (sans the fan page link), but all but the imdb link can't be used here I'm afraid, since they were either fake myspace/facebook/twitter pages, or fan pages which aren't included in articles per WP:ELNO.
Amalthea 11:57, 17 January 2010 (UTC)- Ah, that wasn't you. Amalthea 17:57, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay, this automated filter is really annoying. I haven't cited the whole article (only one section so far) but I was planning on saving what I've done so far and continuing later. But of course, the article was considered unconstructive. So, I copied and pasted the article with all the formatting into Microsoft Word. If anyone feels like helping me I could email you the article, but be warned that, as I said before, it does have all the formatting, so all the =='s and [['s and the infobox, etc. are all there. ILeftMyHeartInTokio (talk) 17:22, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I've tweaked your account so you shouldn't be affected by that filter anymore. It was the all-caps "GAY OU PAS GAY" in the edit that made it deny your change; normally a clear cut sign of an attempt at vandalism, in your case a false positive, sorry about that. Amalthea 17:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for all the edits, guys.. I change something and then notice I misplace something stupid like a comma.BloodlessDreamz (talk) 05:51, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- Did some extensive copy editing—tried to use Kaulitz instead of Bill wherever possible to sound more professional. I also removed "More" before "trouble" in the "allegations of homosexuality..." section—"more" suggests that comments on the singer's sexual preference are trouble and makes it sound like being gay is an insult. Also, in the "International breakthrough..." section, what does "the west" or "western part of the world" mean? Last time I checked, Germany is part of the West. Should this refer to North America? I have no idea because I'm just a copy editor, so can someone clarify this? P.gandal (talk) 18:42, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Speculations about the future
[edit]Currently, the article ends with The future remains unclear for Tokio Hotel, but if Bill gets his way, then he and the band that he led to fame over the past decade aren't going anywhere for a long time. I don't find any hints in the article that might lead to that final conclusion (not to mention sources/references). I think that omitting that sentence would improve the article and make it more "encyclopedic" and less crystal-ball-ish. BNutzer (talk) 21:51, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I wrote that. I remember reading somewhere in an interview that Bill once said "I want to be making music for my entire life." or something like that, and I'm currently looking for that source. ILeftMyHeartInTokio (talk) 00:12, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Even more unsourced rumours "reports have come out about a role in Twilight" have been added. I have added the {{original research}} flag to the article due to that latest addition. Please add references for such claims. BNutzer (talk) 19:40, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- I removed more questionable things from the article such as voice type (no one has ever stated he is a tenor therefore stating here is inappropraite as its guesswork) and height (already people are changing that part like crazy). Other things such as Tokio Hotel were the first German act since Nena to make it internationally, I find questionable as Rammstein is actually Germany's biggest musical export, followed by Nena and then Tokio Hotel. So really it should read Tokio Hotel were the first German act since Rammstein to make it internationally if we are talking about both success and in chronological order. Also Bill Kaulitz was on his way to becoming an international rock icon along with Tokio Hotel. is a bit too POV as it suggests he is an icon now and that would need to be sourced soon if not removed. I also think that sentences such as With the androgynous style and use of makeup, alongside the mounting celebrity that Bill Kaulitz had obtained, the rumours circulated about his sexuality were bound to come sound like a too opinion based article and not encyclopedic in tone so little things like that have to be fixed. And also while there are sources for some things, stuff like what Bushido said about Bill are unsourced and so could be considered a BLP violation (for Bushido but a BLP vio none the less) if left unsourced. I think that if any "new" info gets added, a source has to be added also and that goes for everyone adding content. But people really have to hold off on adding the rumours, like BNutzer said, unless they have some creditable sources. AngelOfSadness talk 20:49, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- If it went Rammstein -> Nena -> Tokio Hotel, then "Tokio Hotel were the first German act since Nena to make it internationally" is actually correct.. if we put "Since Rammstein" we'd be skipping over Nena completely.BloodlessDreamz (talk) 08:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- But see the "since" part indicates time also. So in that way it should mention Rammstein as they were inbetween Nena and Tokio Hotel. But also as Tokio Hotel's selling power is currently faster than Nena's but not as fast as Rammstein's hence the comparision to Rammstein again. It might just be easier to remove it altogether as its a smidgen bit vague, its unsourced and it borders on being a bit peacock term without a source. AngelOfSadness talk 23:54, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Rumor
[edit]The sentence about Bill being in a relationship is Allegations of homosexuality, stalking incident, Humanoid, car accident, and the future for Tokio Hotel (2007 - present) is fake. If you want to post he is in a relationship, give a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Schreien89 (talk • contribs) 20:16, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Issue with article
[edit]"With the androgynous style and use of makeup, alongside the mounting celebrity that Bill Kaulitz had obtained, rumours circulating about his sexuality were bound to come. Kaulitz treats such comments like any other rumor and takes them in stride, as can be seen at the example of the German gangster rapper Bushido, who has on several occasions made (admittedly crude) comments about being interested in the singer. The result was not a feud, but a surprising friendship that now has both artists support each other publicly and at every occasion presented to them, despite their completely different genres of music."
Could somebody rephrase this and make it read more like an encyclopedia? And preferably add a source. Thanks. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 22:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
While we're at it, the claims that Tokio Hotel is "the first German act since Nena to gain success internationally, and maintain their status" is a complete fabrication. Falco peaked after Nena, Scorpions continued long after that, not to mention Rammstein, which is arguably better known especially in the US. In other words, this sentence is pure conjecture from a fan that knows little about famous German bands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.95.172.102 (talk) 05:17, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism
[edit]Is there a way to lock this page so that random IP addresses can't add information? Pretty much every IP address noted in the history page has been a count of vandalism. Can someone tell me if it's possible? Is it something like protecting the article? I remember something similar on the star wars article when I first joined, that meant I couldn't edit it until I'd done a certain number of genuine edits to other pages. Please let me know if this can be done. Thanks. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 16:00, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Seriously, I've just removed about three counts of vandalism in the last hour. How do I request a semi-protection on this article? FlipsidePro09 (talk) 22:08, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Page is now protected as far as I'm aware. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 23:51, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah the page isn't protected, at least not fully, it's still letting me edit it if I wanted....Schreien89 (talk) 00:58, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
It's only protected so that random people can't edit.. I think the protection period ended, too, so I'm not sure what's going on. BloodlessDreamz (talk) 01:09, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Recommend deletion/merging
[edit]Since this page became unprotected again, the vandalism level seems to have gone through the roof. I have no idea how you do this properly, but I recommend either deleting this page completely or merging it into the rest of the Tokio Hotel article, whatever the difference is. I don't see the point in it being here when all that is done to it is vandalism, and since its protection ran out a few days ago, there have been numerous counts of vandalism every day. The page seems completely pointless, since most of the history sections are outlined in the Tokio Hotel article anyway. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 16:45, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Semi-protection requested and granted
[edit]I have just requested indefinite semi-protection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. BNutzer (talk) 21:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- The page is now semi-protected for 1 month (expires 08:28, 10 April 2010 (UTC)). After that, protection would have to be requested again if needed. BNutzer (talk) 09:12, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I think if it happens again, they'll probably grant indefinite protection. Unfortunately, this article is a prime target for vandals, which is why I recommended a deletion above. If we can keep this to a decent standard and hopefully keep the vandalism down or rid off it altogether, there should be no need to recommend deletion. I'm gonna add a few citation tags to this page and see if I can find some good sources for some of the information. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 16:37, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
When I get the time, I intend on running through the article and finding sources/deleting unnecessary information as much as I can.. this article needs a do-over. BloodlessDreamz (talk) 03:15, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Ow, that kinda hurt dude, considering about 85% of the article was my doing, it took me quite a bit to type all that. I tried finding sources but it is a tiring process and quite hard to put together, finding sources is definitely not my forte, although I assure you a source can be found for every sentence I wrote. [edit]{{editsemiprotected}} I don't like how this writer or editor of this article said that Bill's style is feminine. - While I understand the fact that there are some fans that don't like the use of the term feminine in relation to Bill Kaulitz; it is a fact that his style, manner of appearance and as seen in youtube interviews is obviously feminine.
According to Websters: "Main Entry: 1fem·i·nine Pronunciation: \ˈfe-mə-nən\ Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French feminin, from Latin femininus, from femina woman; akin to Old English delu nipple, Latin filius son, felix, fetus, & fecundus fruitful, felare to suck, Greek thēlē nipple Date: 14th century 1 : female 1a(1) 2 : characteristic of or appropriate or unique to women <feminine beauty> <a feminine perspective>Italic text' 3 : of, relating to, or constituting the gender that ordinarily includes most words or grammatical forms referring to females <a feminine noun>" As well as the current acceptable social norms and folkways in both Europe and North America is still to view a male who adopts the use of make up, hair styles, nail shape and polish as well as accessories like necklaces and other women's jewelry as feminine; Bill Kaulitz projects a style in both personal and professional life as feminine. This is not presented by the original writer as an insult but an observation of a fact that is visually obvious and generally would be agreed to. Close enough to fact. There is no 'science' or 'empirical scientific method' to apply to prove or disprove; it simply is as seen and perceived by those who see it. I also don't agree with the request to delete the page. Over sensitivity to what is being used to market and sell the band is dishonest and emotional...unnecessarily emotional. I love Elvis. A lot of things are said about him that are urban ledgen or speculative; but all of it is still part of his history and career as that comes with stardom. And it's just stardom. Not sainthood. I'm a huge fan of T.H. and Bill myself; but not going to sweat the small stuff. 75.45.12.235 (talk) 20:15, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
I would also like to point out that I was the one who wrote the majority of the article's content, and as you can tell from my name, I am hardly someone who would ever insult Bill. It was not meant as slander, that is just simply the general concensus. ILeftMyHeartInTokio (talk) 13:26, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Why Bill Kaulitz doesn't pass the :WP:Music? I don't understand
[edit]Bill Kaulitz deserves to have his own page because he has got coverage establishing notability independent of his band.
Besides being the lead singer of Tokio Hotel and having won numerous awards all over the world and have platinum and gold albums with his band,
In 2003, Bill Kaulitz appered on the german Star Search. In 2006 and 2009, Bill Kaulitz voiced Arthur on the german version of the movie 'Arthur and the invisibles". Bill Kaulitz won Best Male Singer at the 2007 TMF Awards in Belgium. Bill Kaulitz is the ONLY member of Tokio Hotel who has a statue at the Madam Tussauds Museum in Berlin and in 2008 Bill Kaulitz also became the youngest person to be duplicated by that museum. Bill Kaulitz also was named Man of the Year #6 by MTV.
Bill Kaulitz is also a songwriter and coproducer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rurururu (talk • contribs) 21:22, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Bill Kaulitz is also appearing in ads of the HRS campaign in Germany. Bill Kaulitz is well known for his androgynous style and some media and important people has already called him a fashion icon.
In 2009, Karl Lagerfeld called Bill Kaulitz a fashion icon and Karl chose Bill to appear on the 30th anniversary of the german Vogue magazine. Bill Kaulitz has appeared on GQ's magazine Best Dressed List. And other fashion designers has praised Bill Kaulitz, inluding Dean and Dan from Dsquared and Wolfgang Joop. Wolfgang Joop said Bill Kaulitz is giving the germans a new image.
In 2010, Bill Kaulitz also debuted as a fashion model, he opened and closed the Dsquared show in Milan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rurururu (talk • contribs) 21:01, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Sexuality?
[edit]has he ever said a word on the subject? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.178.228.25 (talk) 18:17, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, in an interview with Exclusiv Weekend he said he was straight, this came at the foot of rumours that he was gay. It's all over YouTube if you need proof, searching something like "Bill Kaulitz is not gay" should make it pop up. 99.239.176.33 (talk) 11:47, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
P.s. Does it really matter if he's straight or if he's gay its HIS life style NOT ours so WHATEVER if he's gay its not like anyone would care other than the retard idiots that say he's a faggot girl. and to those people You guys/girls MUST have no life to make fun of another being because he doesn't look like you bitches. (Source Myself personal quote on whatever).
- Uh, yes, it does matter. People care about his life, for one thing. And people do care who other people boink, for good or ill. And since he is already in the public's eye if he came out I'm pretty sure if would have some effect on his career. Media that might have ignored him as a "boy band leader" would likely do an article on him(Political news stations like CNN/MSNBC/FOX NEWS etc). If he did suddenly "come out" he might encourage others to be honest about themselves, doing some good in the world. Not that I'm assuming he's in the closet.
Kairos (talk) 07:03, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- It should probably be worth mentioning here that this is an encyclopedic entry on the man, everything here is supposed to be factual, not intended as an insult. To answer the fangirl's question of "does it really matter? Its his life style not ours", yes it does matter. Quite a lot. As mentioned, this is an encyclopedic article on the man, and encyclopedias are simply pages of facts. If he was gay, then that would be a fact of his personality, and thus worthy of being put onto his dedicated page. Ergo, yes it does matter. If we were truly concerned about delving too deeply into a celeb's personal life, then there would be no article to begin with. Y'all need to stop assuming that every question of sexuality is purely malicious in intent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.136.194 (talk) 23:39, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Good afternoon sir/ma'am, I would like to suggest a small correction on this webpage. You could change Bill Kaulitz's picture, since he looks much more different nowadays, to give people the opportunity to know how he actually looks like. If you want a suggestion, use this picture for example: http://loveth-music.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=39675&fullsize=1 it's him during one of the castings on DSDS. At the bottom of the article there are a line of code and a template's part that is supposed to be invisible. Furthermore, the article states his band is the first German act since Nena to be internationally successful. Herbert Grönemeyer played for MTV unplugged in '94 and had the song for the World Cup '06, and Rammstein have been successful internationally since the mid 90s.
