Loops

[edit]

Does he actually play any of these instruments (guzheng, banjo, etc.)? The way this is written it doesn't make much sense. Badagnani 06:26, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he does play them. Good editing point. Its now been slightly changed for clarity.

Badagnani - Thanks for the comments, clarifications and additions - very helpful. I added a sentence of how the loops are made. Also links to other companies I could find that he has released on. Went Google and Yahoo searching for loops of zither, dulcimer and guzheng that one could buy to use in compositions. Even just his Sony releases were by far more widespread than anyone else's I could find - Sold all over the world in Japanese, Portugese, Spanish, etc.

Having played with and produced Bradley - who i love dearly - you can't really say he 'pioneered' using exotic instruments in a rock setting. that's like saying Ravi Shankar doesn't count, Darol Anger, Esquivel - does anyone else feel that way ?

he does rock on the Zither. But Huun-Hur and Kangar-Ol's tuvan bands are 2 examples off the top of my head that pre-date Fish's use of the zither in the rock medium. we should be fair.

also Yhat-Kha, mongolian supergroup, was doing it back in the 80's. some of the inflamatory claims could be edited from this entry, imho --Debsuls 03:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the wording slightly. It is clear that other artists (including Cui Jian and Wang Yong) were doing rock on guzheng, just to name one instrument, earlier than Fish. Badagnani 03:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
