The sentence regarding the handling of the congestion charge is needlessly defensive and unneccessary. I have therefore removed it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.125.81.178 (talkcontribs) 14:25, 11 May 2006

last year in the table is wrong?

[edit]

2004 Unknown 25,000 1,436 177.2 <- shouldn't the year be 2005? -Mifritscher 21:57, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - correct - thanks!  Pixie2000 (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Capita has a management consulting business, accounting firm and an architecture, building design company so therefore is a professional service company as wells as BPO and recruitment. This company is different from serco and G4S it is more like accenture.

Private Eye

[edit]

Should the Private Eye entry be so "obvious"? It is also uncited. Perhaps it needs citation and moving into the "Capita in the news" section, rather than being a section in its own rights. Has anyone got any comments or opinions, or more importantly, cited references for the comments?  Pixie2000 (talk) 17:26, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point - I've moved it to the "in the news" section. Private Eye's coverage of Capita is extensive and frequent - Pick up any issue and you're almost guaranteed to find something about them in there and which uses the phrase "Crapita". It is however hard to provide a citation as the Eye do not publish their articles on-line. Nsign 16:02, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've created a section called 'Crapita', backed up with citations from national newspapers. This article as a whole needs to be balanced; it isn't at the moment because it doesn't reflect the public criticism and failures of Capita Group. Obviously WP is not just a free publicity front for major corporations! WP already has a redirect to this article using the term Crapita. Sionk (talk) 23:41, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Capita Subsidaries / Divisions

[edit]

Is not Capita made up of a lot of subsidiaries or divisions from firms they have taken over ?

  • Capita Hartshead - pensions in Sheffield
  • Capita Symonds - QS / Project management consultancy for construction.

Are examples i can think of.

Comment re No List Tags :- the information in the sections is clearer in a list format than wrapping it in lots of surplus words. Its about the clearest way to convey the information in some cases. Some articles have been rendered un readable by removal of bullet points and just form blocks of text. Deere & Company is a good example of making a mess IMO - BulldozerD11 (talk) 22:53, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

I think the title should be changed from Capita Group to just Capita or Capita Plc. The company is referred by itself as Capita, and is known heavily in the media as Capita, which is its legal name. It is not a group of companies, but a single companyHkong91 (talk) 13:38, 21 September 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Agreed. I have initiated a move request. Dormskirk (talk) 14:50, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Financial performance

[edit]

The profit figure for 2013 is 475£million, based on the table using the underlying profit, we should compare like for like. The Wiki page did say 215 but this is the reported profit and as said the rest of the table is based on the underlying profit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.184.142.231 (talk) 17:39, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The column in the table under "financial performance" is headed up "Profit before Tax". I agree that the Profit before tax is £475 million. Dormskirk (talk) 18:25, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:CapitaCapita – Or perhaps restore to the previous Capita Group name pending a proper move request. The article was improperly moved outside article space. Dl2000 (talk) 03:13, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved it back for the time being. As you point out, it was moved to the incorrect Wikipedia namespace. Sionk (talk) 09:14, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Support: it is commonly referred to as Capita in all independent sources. The full legal name(s) can be mentioned in the lede intro. Sionk (talk) 09:18, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Strongly support: Capita is the legal name, Capita Group is wrong and inaccurateHkong91 (talk) 11:40, 22 September 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Some proposed changes

[edit]

Hi, I wondered if I could suggest some updates to the Capita page with some recent information, please. This is my first time doing this and I am declaring a conflict of interest.

Capita no longer manages the Disclosure service for the Criminal Records Bureau (source: https://www.theguardian.com/business/marketforceslive/2012/oct/03/capita-criminal-records-bureau#comments) Andy Parker stepped down as CEO in March 2017 and Jonathan Lewis, formerly of AMEC Foster Wheeler, will take up the CEO position on 1 December 2017 (https://www.ft.com/content/f0d2dda0-7050-3930-9ef0-1f0bcb31ee95) More recent activity includes: The acquisition of German call centre group Avocis in 2015; a ten-year Defra contract in a joint venture with Fera, also in 2015 (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/epic/cpi/12045206/Capita-profits-from-acquisition-spree.html); the acquistion of digital design consulting studio Orange Bus in 2016 (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). Consultancy.uk, 01 April 2016 http://www.consultancy.uk/news/3471/capita-picks-up-digital-design-consulting-studio-orange-bus); the acquisition of NYS Corporate events and travel agency in 2017 (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://www.consultancy.uk/news/13409/capita-acquires-nys-corporate-events-and-travel-agency); Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure has been appointed by Santander UK plc to provide corporate real estate services - 2017 (source: http://www.fm-world.co.uk/news/business-news/santander-uk-picks-capita-to-provide-corporate-real-estate-services/); Capita helps to maximise BBC licence fees and is awarded contract extension until 2022 (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://www.cityam.com/255875/capita-helps-maximise-bbc-licence-fees-and-awarded-contract); Capita extends contract with the Pension Regulator to 2021 (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://www.cityam.com/244730/capita-extends-contract-pension-regulator); Success of Entrust, Capita's joint venture with Staffordshire to provide school support services (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://www.staffordshirenewsletter.co.uk/staffordshire-pupils-record-above-average-grades/story-29808245-detail/story.html).

There is more up-to-date information on both Capita’s market share (29.2%) and the balance of Capita’s business between public and private sector can be found on Capita’s 2016 Annual Report and Accounts (Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). http://investors.capita.com/~/media/Files/C/Capita-IR-V2/documents/capita-annual-report-2016.pdf). Wikipedia is currently using the 2009 annual report for information.

Many thanks Viclil (talk) 17:35, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated to remove the CRB work and to add the new CEO, the acquisitions and the market share. I have ignored the contract information as this would border on advertising. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 21:19, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
