Miscellaneous undated comment

[edit]

Why does the company name Celestis redirect to Jerusalem? There isn't a single occurance of the term on the Jerusalem page.

James Doohan

[edit]

Why is he launched twice? Did he not get sent up all in one go? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.200.200 (talk) 23:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Samples launched on the Legacy flight were all recovered after the sub-orbital flight. To make up for delays with the Explorers flight, all samples scheduled for the Explorers mission were flown on it, but will all fly on Explorers as well, when it finally gets off the ground. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 23:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eugene M. Shoemaker

[edit]

Shoemaker's space burial is mentioned here as a Celestis event, but weren't his ashes flown to the moon by NASA - both technically and as far as the organization of the burial was concerned? I wonder whether his name should not be removed from the article dealing with missions carried out by the Celestis company. A link in the Space burial article would do. This Wikipedia article doesn't say that Dr. Shoemaker was flown on a Celestis spacecraft. Instead, it says that Celestis helped Dr. Shoemaker's friends include some of his ashes on NASA's Lunar Prospector spacecraft. See Celestis' Web site for more info -- http://www.celestis.com/memorial/luna01/lunar01.aspMyveryeagermonkey (talk) 21:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Celestis do consider it one of their missions. It should also be noted that from a technical perspective there was not much different about that mission to any other Celestis mission, just that there was only one sample, and that it was attached to the primary payload not the rocket. --GW 22:01, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
