File:Dasan Jeong.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Dasan Jeong.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Dasan Jeong.jpg)

How cute is this guy !!!

[edit]

Having such a section in an encyclopedic article about a philosopher is really a great moment ! Moreover, this looks rather as an advertisement about four obscure guys. Who indeed is this "Professor Ogawa Haruhisa of Nishogakusha University in Tokyo" ? Why should we trust him about Dasan... or about peanuts butter ? Pldx1 (talk) 14:27, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jeong Yak-yongChŏng Yag-yong – Per WP:NCKO, McCune–Reischauer romanization should be used for pre-1945 Korean names. According to Google NGram, Chŏng Yagyong and Chŏng Yag-yong have been more common historically than Jeong Yak-yong as well. Motjustescribe (talk) 02:16, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The ngram isn't so illuminating imo; WP:COMMONNAME asks for current most common name, not historical.
I'd be willing to accept an argument that there's no standout common name (in other words skipping step 1 and going to step 3 in WP:KOREANNAME), and thus a default to pure MR without hyphen. In other words, I'd prefer Chŏng Yagyong over your proposal. seefooddiet (talk) 07:28, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't feel strongly about either – hyphenated vs. non-hyphenated. I guess I slipped a hyphen in there to disambiguate Ya-gyong vs. Yag-yong, but Yagyong may be confusing only to the untrained eye like mine. Motjustescribe (talk) 01:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No you're right there's some ambiguity. Still, MR defaults to no hyphen even in these cases. seefooddiet (talk) 02:18, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per above, move to Chŏng Yagyong. seefooddiet (talk) 00:27, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
