Page move request

[edit]

Could this page get moved to Cheik Tioté? His middle name is not relevant in the article title.

Thank you very much! User:Ultras GE

First-name Tioté

[edit]

According to the official website of the Ivory Coast national football team[1] and the FIFA website[2] the first-name of Tioté should be spelled 'Cheik' instead of 'Cheick'. The websites VI.nl and FCTwente.nl also misspell the name of Nkufo, Vujičević and some other foreign players. Therefore I suggest to move this page back to Cheik Tioté. --Ultras GE (talk) 21:53, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ FIF : CHEIK ISMAEL TIOTE, official website Ivory Coast national football team.
  2. ^ Korea Republic edge Elephants, official website FIFA.
His official twitter account is @CheikTiote24 - it makes no sense that he would spell his own name wrong. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 12:54, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stop the edit warring

[edit]

All of the IP addresses editing this article need to stop changing each other's info. If I come back tomorrow and see this continuing, I'll request semi-protection for this page, which will mean that no one without an account will be able to edit it. A much better solution is for you all to bring your debate to this talk page and has it out here. Qwyrxian (talk) 15:28, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have just undone some changes made by the aforementioned IP addresses to an earlier version. --Toontrooper (talk) 11:21, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cheick vs Cheik

[edit]

If the correct spelling of his name is "Cheick" then why is this article stored and named under "Cheik Tioté"? Shouldn't it be moved and renamed? --MattM4> 16:29, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Heart attack"

[edit]

Please don't let this page repeat the almost-certain nonsense that Tiote died from a "heart attack" (i.e. a myocardial infarction). People don't drop dead suddenly from an infarction unless it causes a cardiac arrest. And in a fit 30-year-old an infarction (normally brought about by blocked coronary arteries) is extremely unlikely. The cause of sudden death would indeed be cardiac arrest, but in this case (as in e.g. Fabrice Muamba's near-death experience) it would much, much, much more likely be due to a cardiomyopathy or some electrical issue triggering an arrhythmia. Yes, the media say "heart attack", but they are (almost certainly) wrong. SNALWIBMA ( talk - contribs ) 18:53, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disallowed goal v City

[edit]

The article states that the goal was disallowed due to referee wrongly adjudging Gouffran blocking Hart's line of sight. That wasn't grounds for disallowing it, but rather Hart being prevented from diving to his left by Gouffran's presence. Dare I (reluctantly) say, the ref got that one right. I haven't checked yet, but I reckon "my" reasoning could be hard to verify. On the other hand, current info provides no citations either. Splićanin (talk) 22:21, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
