Political involvment
[edit]I added a little paragraph informing of Roberto Gomez Bolaños' open support to PAN during the 2006 presidential elections in Mexico. ~ZealotKommunizma — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.138.73.72 (talk • contribs) 20:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
This paragraph
[edit]I think this paragraph should be rewritten or removed.
- "In Brazil, his shows, el Chavo Del Ocho and El Chapulin Colorado, is ared more 20 year and still so popular, the reason, no one can explain, but, sometimes, it gets audience records, and also, there are some "lost episodes" that became too popular(they always find a lost episode sometimes). He also started in such Mexican movies as El Chanfle, and El Chanfle 2." (Antonio.sierra 08:30, 21 November 2006 (UTC))

Polemic?
[edit]I wouldn't say that he has been polemic throughout the years. Maybe recently, but not in the past. --Hugo Estrada 16:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Latin America/Brazil
[edit]In this snippet:
- "These two shows became hits all over Latin America, Brazil, the United States and Spain, and the stars of the show found international fame."
Perhaps the meaning is Brazil in special, but then it should be either emphasized as such or removed, as Brazil is (a big) part of Latin America. RNSanchez 19:29, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
He is best known by his pseudonym Chespirito
[edit]Here in Latin America, the name to recognize is Chespirito, his stage name. Period.--201.247.28.6 (talk) 03:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Would be good if the {{Fact}} tag could be replaced with a reference. Maybe the article should be moved back to Chespirito? - 58.8.2.123 (talk) 03:49, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
"He uses ubuntu as his main operating system"
[edit]I think we should remove the final sentence of the introduction "He uses ubuntu as his main operating system." This is not only irrelevant, but also the citation for it is a link to an online shop that sells Ubuntu memorabilia. Is this advertising? Anyway, I’ve added the failed verification ({{Failed verification}}) template. TehGrauniad (talk) 13:20, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Roberto Gómez Bolaños → Chespirito – Relisted. Favonian (talk) 23:56, 27 February 2012 (UTC) The stage name of the actor is more used than his real name. The search for "Chespirito" gives 671.000 results, the search for "Roberto Gómez Bolaños" just 187.000 Cambalachero (talk) 20:35, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

This article has some good guidelines. Yet it is a little small. I think the discusion about the caracter bubblebee man should be left at the end of the article as some trivia for this is not important information. Also, there is a missing seccion about theater comedy "once y doce" which is the most successful theater comedy in the whole history of mexico. |

Utter failure
[edit]... to convey the nature of the characters "El Chavo", etc., what they were about, why this person may be considered the greatest hispanic comic/comedian. Lycurgus (talk) 11:57, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- How would you fix it? 65.196.107.215 (talk) 15:55, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Obviously by supplying the missing content. Aa written it seems to imply the reader knows all about the subject and simply needs to know how acclaimed he was. I knew of the name but know nothing of the subject. Lycurgus (talk) 20:06, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Parenthetical referencing
[edit]This article has used parenthetical editing since at least November 2018. There is therefore an WP:EDITCONSENSUS, & an editor should obtain consensus here on the talk page before changing it. Peaceray (talk) 16:27, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ummmm ... no. until today, there was only the one work. The rest followed a different style. You're changing it mid-stream, and making false accusations. 65.196.107.215 (talk) 16:34, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- I have never stated that there was more than one work. It has been there since at least since November 2018. However, I saw an opportunity to add a second work & I have. Please get consensus before attempting to remove parenthetical referencing again. Peaceray (talk) 16:42, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- one work does not define the style or show evidence of consensus.65.196.107.215 (talk) 16:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, the lone parenthetical reference has been there since the date of his death. Here it is from a 2014-11-38 version of the article. I can claim there is WP:EDITCONSENSUS by virtue of the fact that it has been there for over five years. I, too, think that a lone entry in the bibliography was lonely, & had prepared the second entry after I saw that Chespirito was the Google Doodle of the day. I was of course surprised that the parenthetical referencing had disappeared in the interim. I thus restored it with the edit summary Please do not undo parenthetical referencing & restored some date format edits that I took out as part of the restoration. (I also happen to prefer the ISO 8601 format myself). I was surprised that these edits were reverted as parenthetical referencing (a bit of a misnomer, since it need not have parentheses) is common in many articles. Peaceray (talk) 17:31, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
You can claim what you want, but it doesn't make it true. Leaving this argument alone for now. 65.196.107.215 (talk) 20:15, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Perrey's lawsuit

Geographic error in “Controversies” session
[edit]Hello. Long time Wikipedia lurker (and I really mean “long time”, around 17 years or so lol), first time poster. While I was reading Chesperito’s biography, I noted that in the “Controversies” session there is a geographic error. It indicates that, in the 70s, Chesperito visited every South American country except Cuba. But Cuba is in the Caribbean… I couldn’t find the correct info on the references on whether he was doing a Latin American tour or not. Anyway, I think that’s a relevant point to bring into discussion. MissCaliope (talk) 11:00, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Done @MissCaliope: Thank you for pointing this out. The problem was the paraphrasing of the translation that the editor(s) of the article were using. Bautista wrote "Según el propio comediante, el elenco de El Chavo visitó todos los países del continente, con excepción de Cuba."[1] [According to the comedian himself, the cast of El Chavo visited all the countries of the continent, with the exception of Cuba.]
- I reworded so that it is an exact quote of the translation but replacing with the exception of Cuba. with
