545 + 1 ≠ 544. And yet that's the date currently offered by your source. So:
    (a) if the CathEnc is just wrong here, replace the cite (and maybe – given its ubiquity as a source for pages like this – even include a footnote explaining the research that shows that they're wrong; or
    (b) don't treat the dates this way. Yeah, the life span in the lede has some circas added in but then the article proceeds to date the years exactly. If there's no basis for those years, say so and give a range. If there is a basis for those years, remove the incorrect circas and explain why scholars think the CathEnc account is wrong now. — LlywelynII 22:55, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If the source says "plague", you can't just add "yellow" to it for no reason – especially if you're then going to link to the wrong "yellow plague". The Irish "yellow plague" was relapsing fever, not yellow fever, and the Welsh "yellow plague" that killed Maelgwn Gwynedd around this time (albeit usually dated along with Phillimore to 547) was possibly neither of them.

It's worth mentioning that Justinian's Plague arrived in Britain around this time; although (at least) the B text of the Welsh Chronicles says the "Great Death" and the "Yellow Fever" were separate outbreaks in the same year. (They put it 516 entries after the birth of Christ, but Phillimore's date is probably closer.)  — LlywelynII 22:55, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
