Birth records

[edit]

Just because birth records are used in other sources doesn’t mean it’s correct to use them. From WP:BLPPRIMARY, Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, home value, traffic citations, vehicle registrations, and home or business addresses.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 17:15, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's accurate. He's a public figure. He's public said his age, when his birthday is and where he was born in interviews. This isn't new information. Cladeal832 (talk) 00:27, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cladeal832: Where has he said his age? I saw the birthday thing because I also follow him on Twitter. But I honestly cannot find any secondary sources that support his age/birth year. If you have it, please add the citation.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 06:22, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
C'mon. It's accurate. Why are you making this fuss. Cladeal832 (talk) 18:08, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's literally Wikipedia policy.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 18:08, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The policy you are citing is ORIGINAL research. It's online. ANYBODY can read, it's not original to me where I didn't talk to his mother or I didn't go to the county clerk and get his birth certificate.Cladeal832 (talk) 18:18, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It seems we're just going back and forth on this. I'm gonna try and find an admin who's more knowledgeable on WP:BLP issues to resolve this dispute.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 18:35, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bait30 is correct, we are not allowed to reference people's biographical data to primary source civil records in genealogy databases. If Clay Jenkins has really stated his age and birthdate in interviews, then use those interviews as your sources for his age and birthdate — but you are not allowed to use FamilySearch. Bearcat (talk) 18:39, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bearcat, Cladeal832 added it back again. I'm getting WP:IDHT vibes right now.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 20:15, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's in several interviews. Here, quote, "In 1971, when he was 7 years old," http://www.dmagazine.com/publications/d-magazine/2014/october/who-is-dallas-county-judge-clay-jenkins/ Cladeal832 (talk) 20:19, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I won't revert, but I'm pretty sure that's still WP:SYNTHESIS. Based on {{birth based on age as of date}} if he was 7 y/o in 1971, he could've either been born 1963 or 1964.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 20:33, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You know he was born on March 26th from twitter.com. You've admitted that already. Also it's one thing to be against a source in the article, but you know he was born on March 26, 1964 so feigning personal ignorance on that fact is odd. Cladeal832 (talk) 20:42, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Solved everyone's problems: This is a reliable source with his entire birth date. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:42, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't saying I don't believe you. I was just trying to show an example of why those sources shouldn't be used. But it doesn't matter since Eagles247 found a secondary source. Thanks for remaining civil throughout the discussion.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 21:53, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Double barreled" name

[edit]

According to https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2023/01/13/dallas-county-judge-will-go-by-clay-lewis-jenkins/, he prefers to go by "Lewis Jenkins" now (and has used it in many circumstances other than political campaigning. In particular, he uses it in advertisements for his law firm. Samer (talk) 04:39, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
