Caffeine Content

[edit]

I'm really curious as to the Caffeine content of Liberica as compared to the other species, Arabica in particular. Anyone care to add this? Alternativity (talk) 16:25, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Variation exists among species but these are published numbers for reference. Caffeine (g): Arabica 2.26g/100g • Robusta 1.61g/100g • Liberica 1.23g/100g. Determination Of Coffee Content In Coffee Mixtures (2001). Liew Siew Ling, Nik Ismail Nik Daud and Osman Hassan

cupping

[edit]

I think the comment about it cupping like robusta may be an over-generalization from one or more particular varietal. I've tasted a liberica (India Anokhi) and it cupped nothing like robusta. It had a pretty strong wild blueberry note to it.--Ericjs (talk) 06:20, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coffea Liberica does not appear to be of any interest within the Speciality Coffee Segment: all proper cuppings I have had with this variety leaves nothing but aromas of cheese and wet dirt, no sweetness, no acidity, no interesting attributes. The variety appeared in the German Barista Championship finals in 2012 as a 80% Robusta / 20% Liberica and got the lowest taste scores from all Judges. Perhaps it is 'fun' and cheap on the market, but it will need a dark roast to become drinkable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.141.3.74 (talk) 12:42, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
