I object to "D.O.C." linking to this page. I think DOC is much more commonly associated with "department of corrections" in various US, and possibly non-US states. Therefore, I think there should at least be a disambiguation page for "D.O.C." Wbbigtymer 19:55, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- ‘I object’ seems a bit strong! But I don’t see any problem with your turning D.O.C. into a disambiguation page. Or, easier and better, make it redirect to DOC, which is already a disambiguation page. In either case do make sure to fix any double redirects, though. The page says wine can only get this certifcation if it is in a bottle containg at least 5l of wine, but a .75 l bottle of DOCG Chianti is right next to it.
‘DOCG regions are subterritories of DOC regions.’ Is that right? I would have thought that in most cases it was wrong. For instance I have not come across a Barolo DOC which is more broadly defined in a geographical sense than the Barolo DOCG. Ian Spackman (talk) 01:12, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- This article is not written very well. It needs a pretty thorough overall. DOCG are their own regions, they may be sub-territories but that is not always the case. AgneCheese/Wine 01:44, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
What about the oils?
The oils have not been as strictly guaranteed. Mislabeling is a nice word for it. UC Davis (2011) says the imported oils under the IOC have wimpy controls and should add DAGs and PPP standards to avoid fake oils. They also describe the US as the world's third largest olive oil consumer. http://olivecenter.ucdavis.edu/research/files/report041211finalreduced.pdf.
