Comment: This is Derrick Etienne Sr. Not sure what country he was born (article says Haiti, national-football-teams.com says US). In any case, he is internationally (i.e. outside the US) recognized (and a reason to be here) for having played with the Haiti national team (hence a Haitian footballer). On the other hand, I ask: Should Derrick Etienne remain as his son's article or it should become a disambiguation page? (in the latter case, his son's article should be renamed to Derrick Etienne (footballer, born 1996) as he is also capped by Haiti, despite being born and raised in the US) I also notice that Derrick Etienne (footballer) does not exist.--MonFrontieres (talk) 02:17, 8 January 2021 (UTC). No other people here named Derrick Etienne apart from the two of them, who share occupation and nationality. Alternative given they are father and son and named Jr. and Sr. perhaps they should be moved to Derrick Etienne Jr. and Derrick Etienne Sr., just like Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr., neither of whom have a disambiguator. Thoughts MonFrontieres, Ortizesp, GiantSnowman? The base Derrick Etienne could then either re-direct to the more notable son, like Ken Griffey does, or become a disambiguation page, although WP:COMMONNAME for the son does seem to omit the Jr. RedPatchBoy (talk) 23:03, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @RedPatchBoy: If WP had existed in March 2000, when the old Etienne made his international debut for the Haiti NT, this article would not have been created under the title "Derrick Etienne Sr." because he was not then known so (it would have been titled simply as "Derrick Etienne"). His career ended before his son's began. Instead, the suffix "Jr." yes it could be used for his son, who has already had "Etienne Jr." in the back.[1].--MonFrontieres (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
